Chapter 1- The Sneak Out

Third Person POV

----------------------------------------------------

July 15th, 2001, 12:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

Heaven

Celestial Palace

-Prince Helias

----------------------------------------------------

Prime Ministers. Czars. Monarchs. Kings.

Titles.

He hated the bloody things. They were pedastals that people (like him) were thrust upon. Expectations to live up to, an impression to be made, a name to be remembered. He hated it. He hated them.

Prince Helias

Heir to the Celestial Throne

The next Great God

Those were his, and he hated them. He hated his titles. He just wanted to be 'Helia', nothing more, nothing less.

Helias sighed.

The dark-haired ten year old was so close to tearing his hair out (yeah, that stressed).

The Angelique Council was being a pain. Who cared that he, Prince Helias, spent more time with his sketch book rather than with his combat instructors.

Oh, yeah, the Angelique Council.

It was always 'Prince Helias all male Angels are always trained to fight' 'Combat is needed will make you an even better Great God' 'Prince Helias do this, do that'

Helias snorted.

Why did he have to learn how to physically fight? He knew enough for defense, and that was alright with him. He loathed the combat lessons, especially his very own instructor, Angel Bilius. He was always so violent and absolutely loved bloodshed.

Helias shook his head. Was the Council that clueless? Didn't they know that his Grace (1) was physical hand to hand combat? Apparently not.

He knew as no one else had this specific Grace (he had searched in the Book of Angelique Graces) that he could possibly (most likely) be the best fighter in Heaven alive (disregarding his parents and brother of course). So, he didn't really see why he had to have the stupid combat lessons.

Helias steathily flew through the Celestial Palace's corridors, hiding behind the shadow of a pillar when he saw several Celestial Guards and servants searching for him.

Once they had passed, Helias made his way to his father's private study- only family was allowed in there. (Thank the Great God.)

There he left a note proclaiming the he (Prince Helias) was going to visit their town house in the Mortal Realm for a short respite and would return after a few hours. He left it on his father's desk in clear view and knew that one of his family members would eventually see it.

Helias sucked in a deep breath. Now came the hard part: sneaking past the Palace guards, and getting off the Palace grounds.

Quietly exiting his fahter's study from the secret entry/exit way, he made his way to the main corridor. Helias stuck to the shadows as he calmly made his way to the main gates, walking. They would surely see him if he flew, his wings were very noticeable.

Just as Helias was about to take in a breath of relief as he reached the Divine Gardens unnoticed, a shrilly voice broke the tranquil air, calling out to him.

"Ohhhhh, Prince Heliaaaaas!!"

The Heir and Prince of the Celestial Throne winced as the high octaves pierced his ears painfully.

'Ahh, so close!' He thought.

Composing himself, Helias managed to put on a polte mask just as he felt someone land behind him. Inhaling deeply, he turned around and tried not to grimace in reulsion as his eyes was presented with the site of the Angel Melany. She had plain blonde hair, plain brown eyes, and basically plain everything. The only thing that wasn't what one could consider normal was her voice.

Angel Melany had a very....distinctive voice. It was very loud and borderline obnoxious. It was also very shrill and if you were unfortunate and had to hear it, it would practically make your ears bleed. (Helias was pretty sure that it knocked someone out, once upon a time.)

"Good-den, Angel Melany," he said, perfectly cordial. Helias thoughts were quite the opposite though. 'Well, it was when you weren't there.'

"Oh, Helias, please call me Melany," the offneding girl said, batting her eyelashes as though there was some sort of bacteria in her eyes.

"Of course," Helias muttered impassively, sneering inwardly at the blatant disrespect- he could call Melany by her given name, but he specifically did not give her permission to use his. Honestly, Angels these days. Seeing Melany still silent and still smiling (creepily, mind you), Helias distracted Melany with something he knew she would totally freak out about: her appearance.

Putting on a questioning look on his face, Helias innocently asked,"Melany, you look...different. Did you perhaps do something new with your face?" Said girl paled and excused herself quickly, not even saying a word in farewell to Helias.

Smirking to himself, Helias looked around, checking if any guards had spotted him. Pleased that no one had, Helias quickly slipped through the bars of the main gate, and flew to the cloud bank right underneath the Palace.

When he landed on the fluffly bank, he set off to his real destination: the Soulless Stream. The stream was a place where no scrying orb could track him, and that's how he and sometimes his family slipped to the Mortal Realm.

As he reached the stream, he stopped for a second and admired the Panda lilies (think Avatar: the Last Airbender), before he decided to just pick the ones that looked like they were just about to die. With a short burst of magic, Helias brought them back to their prime glory, before jumping off the cloud, flowers in hand, slip-streaming(2) to the Mortal Realm.

----------------------------------------------------

1) A 'Grace' is a single power that every Angel/Demon has. It could be anything as simple reading to something dangerous as killing. It could be genetic (like if your mom has the Grace of ummm... aim than her children could potentially get it as well. ) or something totally diffrent and unheard of. You find out your 'Grace' when you are born and a specifc spell is cast.

2) Slip-streaming is flying very fast to the Mortal Realm, or back up to a cloud bank. Angels and Demons use this to avoid detection and/or capture. This is a learned skill, not every Angel/Demon can do this without proper training.

Pronounciations:

Helias - (Ee-lie-us) silent 'h'

Helia - (Hee-lee-uh)

Melany - (Meh-LAW-nee) stress the 'law'

Thanks so much to anyone who read!! ^0^
