Run With Me

❝we can run forever, if we have to.❞

How did I come to be here? I wondered to myself sitting in the passenger seat of my boyfriend’s new car. Why me? I questioned, but I already knew the answer. I looked out the window and smiled at his reflection. Our two year anniversary vacation to Vegas. How did it all begin? I asked forcing myself into a flashback.

---

Summer vacation, 2012, I was at the beach with a couple of friends. We ran on the hot sand and towards the water. “We gonna jump!” Candice said with a huge smile plastered on her face. I grinned and follow right alongside, but stopped when the jumped into the water. I laughed and watched as the girls pulled themselves out of the cool water. “We were all supposed to jump, Nicole.” Ashley said wiping the water out of her face. “Nah, my hair pins would’ve fell out and got lost.” I say trying to defend why I did go through. “Coco, who’s that guy talking to your brother?” Candice asked pointing to a guy with black swimming trunks and sandy brown hair. I squinted to look, he didn’t seem to be bother him, just talking. “I don’t…know?” I say unsure of whether or not I in fact knew him.

Candice, Ashley and I crept up to the two and listened in on the conversation. “Hey, Coco, we were just talking about you.” I raised an eyebrow and blinked at my brother. “Why?” I asked looking between the two boys. Nikolas, my brother, smiled and laughed. “The school vacation room assignments came out!” Nick said his eyes wide and reflecting the sun. “And?” the girls and I chime. “I got Nicole, which is you, as my roommate.” The boy said leaning on my brother’s shoulder. “Yup!” Nick said looking up at the obviously older boy. I didn’t even know this kid went to our school, so he’s either an under or upper classmen… while I was the happy medium. “And who are you?” Candice asked sounding slightly annoyed and very disgusted. Ashley stood behind her instigating. He laughed and turned to Nick and pointed at the girls. Candice pointed back at the boy and restated her question. The brown haired boy scoffed and smacked Candice’s hand away. “I am who I am.” He said as if the world should’ve known.

I rolled my eyes and trotted off to talk to Mrs. Roberts about the room assignments. Candice and Ashley followed suit after looking the two up and down. “What’s wrong girls?” Roberts asked flipping her sunglasses atop her head. I sat down beside her and tucked my legs into my chest. “Can I have a new roommate?” I asked and she laughed. My eyes widened at her. I know she’s no laughing at me! I thought breathing harshly. “No, every roommate was chosen to improve the students.” She said dismissively. “Well then.” Ashley huffed crossing her arms and smacking her lips. “Can I get my room key, then?” I ask not willing to argue with someone who doesn’t care.  “Actually, I sent Mr. Espinosa to give it to you.” She explain nonchalantly flipping the glasses back over her eyes. Espinosa?! I knew that name… I’ve dealt with that name… the files at school! He plays football and lives in detention. “Oh no!” I breath rushing away to find the boy. “Nick! Nick!” I called to the ball playing boy. “Where’s Espinosa?” I asked breathlessly.

He pointed to the hotel and I took off. Candice and Ashley could barely keep up. There was a group of guys in the lobby, three of which I knew should’ve known who or where Matt was. “Barker, do you know where Espinosa is?” I ask marching up to the boy. He pointed towards the elevators. “What room number, idiot!” Ashley growled at the blonde haired guy. “Why does it matter? Some other guy asked, though I didn’t care to answer. “She needs to know.” Candice demands slamming her hands on the table, hushing the entire lobby. “301…” the group says in unison. I run off to the elevator and attack the up button. The door dings open and my friends and I urge the elevator up. This is stupid! I exclaim in my head as the door rolls open. There were two halls. Which one? “We’ll go right and you go left!” Ashley said pulling Candice behind her. I walk down the hall looking at the descending number until I find the room number. “There it is… 301…” I breathe.

I stood outside the door, my suitcase was sitting beside it. I was debating whether or not to knock or just take my case and leave. My breath deepened as I worked up the nerve to knock. I thought about the guy who would open the door. His soft looking brown hair and deep chocolate brown eyes that glistened with mystery and a sort of danger, but were soft and gentle at the same time. I let myself get carried in thought and just as I was about to knock, the door swung open. “Hey…” he teased leaning against the door. “I was wondering if you would knock, but I got so sick of waiting.” He was shirtless and he looked damn good. No, stop Nicole! I mentally scolded myself. “Come on in…” he said slightly moving to reveal a completely clean room. My legs felt like they were filed with lead and I really have admit that he looked absolutely perfect. Dang it, I’m staring again! “Fine then, I’ll bring you in.” before I could react to his words he scooped me up bridal style.

“What are you doing!” I yelled wiggling in his arms. “You put me down, I don’t like to be lifted.” I kicked my feet and continued to wriggle. Matt backed into the room and kicked the door closed. I complain and thrash around in his arms until he dropped me on the bed. My heart dropped as he loomed over me, I blinked. The girls knocked on the door. “Nicki, is everything alright? Ash’s voice broke through the door. I couldn’t find my voice though I most definitely had the answer. “She’s fine.” Matt answered walking to the door. He pulled it open violently to reveal my two angry best friends. “Who the hell do you think you are?!” Ashley inquired watching the boy drag the suitcase into the room. “Matthew Lee Espinosa.” He said condescendingly with a quick smile before closing the door in their faces. “Why’d you leave them out there?” I asked pushing off the bed and fiddling with my dark hair. He threw the suitcase onto the empty space. “Unpack.” He demanded sharply. “I’m gonna go take a shower.” My eyes widened. He wouldn’t, not while I’m here.

I unzipped my suitcase and then heard the water start I felt myself perk up slightly and my heart began to thump against my chest. I quickly and neatly unpacked and organized the drawer. When I had finished, I relaxed forgetting my roommate was around. My favorite show was on, Adventure Time. I hear a slight commotion, but I ignored it. A figure morphed into my sight and I gingerly looked up at the boy. His brown hair was a wet mess, sticking to his face. His perfect face. His flawless skin glistened with lingering water. I found myself disgusted with my being for not looking away. My eyes continued to travel downward to his abs. His body was incredible, it wasn’t overly muscular, but it looked very firm. His abs had my full and undivided attention, yet my mind wanted to wander… lower. There was a white cotton towel wrapped loosely around his hips, exposing his nicely cut v-line. I’ve never been this curious and it was an insatiable curiosity. “Uhm…?” his voice carried over the sounds on the television. “Hello.” My face burned with utter embarrassment. “Why didn’t you stay in the bathroom?” I yelled throwing a pillow at him. He smiled that perfectly white smile and laughed an arrogant boy laugh. “Because you wouldn’t be able to admire my body.” He teased grabbing his clothes. Man I hate him. “I wasn’t admiring anything.”

---

The car had stopped. “Bae,” my flashback was cut into by reality. “Are you hungry?” he asked I wanted to say no, but I was. “Yeah.” I smiled he returned the smile and cut the corner. Man, I love him so much. I wish summer vacation was longer… There was one and a half months left. I sigh to myself. I remember our first date… it was…different.

---

It was around 4 pm and I was sitting on my porch watching my dog Luffa running back and forth. My phone rang and I ignored it. Probably mom. I had a pile of unfinished homework that was due tomorrow, so she’d be out here soon. After meeting Matt I learned to relax about school a little and life outside of school. The phone started to ring again, so it wasn’t mom. I looked, but didn’t recognize the number. “Hello…?” I asked praying it was a wrong number. “Hey bookworm, what’s your address?” the deadly familiar voice reverberated in my ear. “Matthew?” I asked suddenly in a whisper. “No, it’s Jack Skeleton.” He laughed. I was slightly unamused. “Uh, 31 East Walnut St.” I mumble he hums into the phone sending a shiver down my spine “Why?” I asked noticing that Luffa had disappeared. “Put on something cute ‘cause I’m almost there.” He said before the line went dead. “What?!”

I called Luffa and she came running. Without hesitation, I went upstairs. “Nick, start the shower for me! I yelled rushing into my room and straight to the closet. “Done!” he yelled the sound of the water in the background. I rushed into the shower and clean up nice and squeaky. I put on a dust of natural colored makeup with a pink tinted lip stain and a shiny pink gloss. Once I was finished, I called Nick into my room and asked him to pick a dress. He pulled out a blue heart cut dress then matched it white wedges. “I like the heart cut,” he smiled. “Shows it off, but not too much of it, y’know.”  And with that he was gone. I threw on the outfit and headed back into the bathroom to curl and tie my hair into a half up ponytail. My phone rang in my hand. “Hello?” I answered putting in my white flower earrings. “I’m outside.” Matt’s voice rang into my ear. “I’ll be right out.” I say hanging up. I stuck a blue flower hairclip in my hair and stuffed the necessities into my purse before hurrying down the stairs. “I’ll tell mom… something.” Nick said shooing me out the door. “Thanks.” I whisper closing the door silently and turned to see Matt standing outside of his navy blue car. I click clacked down the stairs and greeted the too cool boy. He got in and started the car while I took a moment to admire it. Nice… I thought getting in. “You look cute.” He said backing out of the driveway. I fixed my hair so that the curls fell nicely. “Thank you.” I chime smiling softly. I was nervous and curious, it was my first date ever. I could see him looking at me out of the corner of his eye. “So, where we going?” I asked the mysterious boy. He peered at me through shaded eyes as we rolled up to the stoplight. “You’ll see.”

We pulled up to a small nicely decorated house. It had nice green grass and clear sparkling windows. Matt stopped the car and unlocked the door. “Ready?” he took his sunglasses off and threw them in the glove compartment. Am I? I asked myself. I beamed a little smile and followed him to the door. He knocked and the stuffed his hands in his back pockets. The door creaked open after a few moments to reveal a blonde hair woman with a huge smile. “Matthew, you’re early!” she chimed hugging the boy. “Hey, Jacqueline, I brought a friend.” He harped with a smile wrapping his arm around my shoulder. My face heated up and I waved shyly. “Oh?” she hummed. “She’s a cutie.” She said moving to let us in. “How’s Johnnie doing these days?” Matt asked I was confused. Jacqueline looked away and sighed. “He’ll be better now that you’re here.” She said pushing open a door that lead into a childishly decorated room. She excused herself and left the room. “Hey bookworm,” he called from the middle of the room. “Can you play the piano?” Matt asked leading me to the small silver keyboard. I thought back to years of lessons. “Yeah, I can do a little something.” I shrugged he smiled. I sat at the piano and tapped gently on the keys. A flood of children came into the room mumbling about Matt, music and things unknown. I smiled watching him enjoy the children’s presence.  A little brown haired boy with half his face bandaged hobbled in happily on his little crutches. “Matt!” his small voice squeaked with excitement. Matthew looked up from the crowd of children that surrounded him. “Johnnie!” he beamed. He seemed to literally glow. “Looking good.” He smiled moving through the ocean of excited kids. A light smile crept across my face as I watched the school’s bad boy show his kinder side.

Matt introduced me to Johnnie then the other children. They were so cue. They wanted Matt to sing, but he didn’t seem like a singer. “Can you play something upbeat?” he asked with a huge smile. I nodded and pressed quickly on the keys playing the most upbeat sounds I could before switching the music sound and adding a beat. Matt began to rap slowly speeding it up slowly hen slowing it down again. He was rapping about random things to make the kids smile and laugh. I giggled watching him perform for the small group. When he was done we colored with the kids and I was interrogated by all the girls. We stayed for about an hour and a half before my parents told me to come home. The ride back was pleasant. “So, how long have you been doing this?” I asked giggling. He shrugged. “About three years.” He chimed. “I’m Johnnie’s ‘big brother’.” He glowed. “I love kids.” He said randomly. I smiled and nodded. “Me too.” We appeared in front of my house. “We’ll have to do this again.” I smiled closing the door. The window rolled down slowly. “I’m having a graduation party next month. Be there.” He said throwing his sunglasses on and backing out of the driveway. I watched him speed away until he was no longer visible.

---

We were at the airport about 15 minutes before our flight leaves. “So, what are we gonna do in Vegas?” I asked lacing our fingers together. “You’ll see.” He said throwing his arm around my shoulder. Damn him and his mysteriousness. I smiled inhaling his scent. He emanated the scent of chocolate and other sweets and it made me happy. We approached the gate and I looked up at him. I wonder what he has planned. Is it like when we went to Houston?

---

Matt unzipped the zipper on the back of my dress letting the fabric slid down my body. The dress fell to the floor and making me feel embarrassed and vulnerable.  I crossed my arms, trying to cover myself. "Do not hide. I want to look at you." he said taking in my petite figure.  He stared at my face and worked his way down my neck, licking his lips when he stopped to take in my breasts and again as he gazed at my hips. I’m glad I wore these underwear. I giggled to myself. I wasn’t as sure about anything now, but I wasn’t gonna turn back now. He grabbed me by the waist and brought me towards him. “Are having doubts, Nicole?” he asked his voice was smooth and enticing. I looked away, embarrassed. “It’s okay to say yes, I speak English.” He said turning my face to look at him. I swallowed a nervous lump in my throat. “I wanna…” my voice faded. I was unsure of that statement. He put my hand on his belt. “You wanna what?” he whispered into my ear. Goddamn it Matthew… I tugged to the belt, unfastening it before pulling it off of him. Matt brought his hand up to back up to my face, cupping it and bringing his closer to mine. His kiss was rough but after I returned the kiss he lightened up. His thumbs caressed my flushed cheeks and I invited his tongue into my mouth.

My mind couldn’t keep up with my thoughts and before my heart could slow, even a bit, Matt’s warm tongue was pressed against my neck. It left a tingle as he travelled lower. The room darkened as the night come around. He broke the kiss, pulling his shirt over his head and discarding it to the furthest corner of the room. Oh my god, this is getting real. Reality smacked me in the face, but I wasn’t worried and I had no regrets. He laid me down on the soft bed and looked over my body once again. He licked his lips and scanned over me like he was mapping out his journey. I tucked my hair behind my ear and looked him up and down. He pulled me to the edge of the bed and slowly pulled my white lace Victoria Secret down. I smacked his hand away. “Take off more first.” I demanded licking my lips. He smirked and slowly unzipped his jeans. Is he teasing me? I sat up and pushed his pants down. “Don’t tease me Matthew.” I breathed hooking two finger inside his red and blue checkered boxers. I wasn’t feeling as confident as before. He pushed my hands down dragging his boxers along with them. I looked up at him as he kicked the clothes away. He looped his finger back in the sides of my panties and slowly pulled them down. “Are you ready?” he asked I sounded like a challenged more so than a question. I took a breath and nodded my head. He’ll be gentle. My inner self promised calming my nerves slightly.

He positioned himself, but hesitated. He looked into my eyes, his brown orbs unnerving me even more than what was possible. He gripped my hips lightly and pushed in slow and steadily. A low and almost inaudible groan trickled from his lips. I clenched my eyes and bit down on my lip to stop from crying out. He paused and looked at me with a concerned face when he noticed I was fighting back tears. He wiped the tears away and kissed my lips. “Bear with me.” He whispered against my lips. I nodded. He began to slide in and out. I held in even cry I wanted to let out. “M-Matt,” I whispered. He smirked. The pain faded with each thrust, until it was completely replaced by pleasure. The room was soon filled with moans and groan, the room beside ours had children and man I felt bad for keeping them awake, but it was worth it. At the night ticked on, it felt like those scenes in the movies I always skipped and I loved it. When it was all over he laid breathless beside me. The clock read 2 am, but we didn’t complain. He pulled me closer to him. I was on cloud 9. “So, how was your first time?” he asked jokingly. “Was it like in your books?” he teased. I shook my head. “It was… similar to what I expected.” I said. He kissed me and I relaxed into his arms.

---

“This is your captain speaking.” I heard over the speaker. “If you look out your window, you’ll see the Grand Canyon.” I excitedly leaned over my sleeping boy and peered out the window like a child in the candy store. “Wow.” I purred. We’re gonna be in Vegas soon, I think. I relaxed back into my seat and tapped Matt’s nose. It twitched and he shifted with a grunt.

---

Where is he? I wonder sitting in my window watching the snow trickle from the sky. He should’ve been here by now. I sighed looking out the now slightly fogged glass. I didn’t wanna call him because I didn’t want to distract him while he was driving. My door creaked open. “Coco, mom’s taking dad to work…” Nick said slinking closer to me. I raised an eyebrow, but didn’t really question why I should’ve cared. “Are you gonna hug dad and give him luck?” he asked sounding quite disgusted. “No!” I blurted pulling my knees to my chest. “Why would I?” I rolled my eyes. Nick was taken aback by the statement. He blinked at me a few times. “Who the hell are you?” he shook his head and turned knocking into my shelf. I jolted as the contents spilled onto the floor. “I’m sorry.” He breathed scrabbling to pick everything up. I pushed off the window seal and hurried over to the mess. “I got it, Nick.”  I say but he was already filing through the mess. “What is this?” he asked my heart dropped. He stood slowly holding a box and I was I’m not even sure what I was. I was speechless and horrified. Is he gonna tell. Outside the house, I heard mom’s car start. “Coco, are you guys having sex?” he yelled turning towards me. I took a breath and opened my mouth. “Don’t…” he threw it down. “It’s whatever.” He huffed leaving the room. Why is he so upset…? It was my life and my body, what did he have to do with it. I picked up the box to put it back, but Nick returned and snatched it away from me. “Is this the only one?” he asked I nodded. “Are you pregnant?” I shook my head. I don’t know why he’s so noisy or why he’s so worried.

He nodded back and left again standing in the hall as if he was waiting. I followed with a sigh as he led me to the back porch. “What are we…” he threw the box down. “Shut up.” He said calmly swing the cabinet open. A red container, gasoline. “They won’t know, just don’t see him anymore.” He said dumping the liquid on the box. I stood there puffing out smoke when he disappeared into the house. A few moments later, he came back with my scrapbook. “Nick...” I breathe he throws it onto the box and doused it with the gasoline. “Nickolas Quinton!” I yelled. “Just tell mom and dad you broke up…” he said tossing a lighter onto the pile ignited the items. My heart stopped and my world spun. “How could you!” I screeched reaching into the flame. “Nicolette stop it!” Nick dragged me back into the house forcing me to watch as they transformed into ash. I cried no feeling trapped inside my brother’s world. “I hate you!” I yelled thrashing around in Nick’s grip. “I hate you!” I cried kicking the door until it dinted. “I hate all of you!” I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t see or even support myself anymore. Nick pushed me away and disappeared into the house. I crawled across out the door and to the pile of ash. “Nick, I hate you!” I smack the ash off the porch and went back into the house. I laid in the bed cried. I’ll call him…

I pulled out my phone and called Matt. He answered almost immediately. “Hey, kitten.” He laughed. There were voices in his background.  “Where are you?” I asked trying to mask the tears. “Work.” He said quickly. “Are you crying?” he asked I sniffled. “No.” I said my voice shaking. “I’ll be right over.” My breath hitched. “They don’t want us together anymore.” I sigh his background gets hushed. “So?” I didn’t know what to say anymore. “So? So what?” I yelled I was angry but not with him. “I don’t give a damn what they want!” He argues. “You’re not them you’re you.” He huffs at me. Tears threatened my eyes. “Kitten, I’m not yelling at you.” He said calmly. “I…” my voice cracked from crying. “Run away with me…” he said abruptly. “Wh-what?” I stutter and he cleared his throat. “I’m coming to get you.” He said sternly. “Be ready with your stuff.” I okayed and hung up.

---

We rolled our suitcases down the hall. “What’s our room number?” I asked excitedly. It was my first trip to Vegas and I wanted to explore. “It’s the white door.” He smiled and handed me the room key. I ran down the hall like a hyper kid who saw candy. I stopped at a white door. It was pretty separated from the other room. 301? I giggled to myself unlocking the door. I pushed it open to reveal a trail of lights and rose petals. “Aww, what?” I followed and the room was decorated with lights. A switch had a sign that said ‘flip me’ so I did. A flash of bright light shone behind me. I whirled around to see red and white lights flashing. It read ‘Will you marry me?’ I smiled and tears flowed down my face. The door shut and I turned to see a shiny diamond ring. “Will you?” he asked I covered my face and nodded. “Of course.” I hugged him then he slipped the ring on my finger. “We can run forever, if we have to.” He said kissing me passionately. Run we shall. ‘Til death do us part and even after.

author's note;

My very first chapter and first story. I used Matthew Espinosa because... I like Matt. Even though I've never actually never met him, I feel like he was totally out of character. I hope you read it and liked it.  I stayed up for days thinking of a plot and writing and editing this. If you like, please subscribe and if you want to make a request. I might do a Jack and Jack fic next :S
