Chapter 2:/

On the day of our return, Elias and I picked back up on our work. We bonded more than we ever had before, strengthening our relationship. I was afraid that we'd lose the shine that we polished over the next course of days. I've seen it happen to other couples before. I didn't want that to happen with me and Elias, but I trusted him so I stopped thinking about it.

Elias had told me that I can plan the event to renew our vows. I wasn't a party planner so I went out to town to go to that business down by the shopping center to hire a party planner. I think her name was Eloise? I don't remember, its been so long I've talked to her. She has problems that I didn't want to be a part of.

The drive was about 10 minutes from our house, 20 if one decided to walk. I walked into the building and the woman's name was Evelyn, not Eloise. She greeted me with a smile that said "Hi, come in, I remember you." I walked up to the counter and watched her make her way towards me.

"Hello my dear Kara, what can I do for you today?" she grabbed a pen and paper, "Birthday party, business party, divorce party?"

"What?" I quickly said.

"I said 'diversity' yay diversity, go!" she laughed nonchalantly. I rolled my eyes.

"Vow renewal. Or do you just specialize in your own baby showers alone?" I said coldly. She sighed angrily and wrote down 'vow renewal' then a name next to it.

"You're vow renewal will be planned by Mike Corbo. Here is his number and email address. I will be giving him you're number and email address as well. Will that be it?" she spoke, anger still in her voice, handing me a piece of paper.

"No, that'll be it Evelyn, thank you." I said nicely then walked out. I walked down a few blocks and stopped at a street vender that sold delicious Belgium waffles. When I looked over, I saw young looking man sitting at the park bench, looking through job listings. He was mesmerizing. He saw me looking at him and he scooted over.

"Need a seat?" he asked me. I swallowed the waffle in my mouth and sat down next to the stranger.

"That's a nice ring you have on," he motioned toward my ring and picked his paper back up.

"Oh, thanks, it was my mother's" I said absentmindedly. I cursed at myself for saying that. Lying in the name of my deceased mother.

"Wow, very beautiful..." he looked me up and down, "very beautiful." I know what he was getting at and I bit my lip, trying to hold back the idea that appeared into my head.

After of what it seemed to be 3 minutes of silence, I spoke. I couldn't hold back the idea. I would hate myself later on in the day for letting this mesmerizing stranger to walk in and walk right out of my life so easily.

"Are you looking for a job...?" I gave a him a look, motioning with my hand to ask for his name.

"I'm Byron Morrish and yes I'm looking for a job. I lost my job the other day. Well I quit."

"Oh? Why'd you quit?" I asked him, moving a bit closer to him.

"I'm just going to say that they didn't appreciate my talents good enough." He smirked a bit.

"Well, I'll be happy to appreciate your talents. Would you like to work at my house as a butler? $20 per hour, weekly?" I asked him. His eyes beamed with surprised.

"How about overtime?"

"Overtime..." I thought about Elias being out of town for certain days. "Overtime will be determined ahead of time. Overtime pay would be an extra $15 per hour." I said, calculating the expenses in my head.

"Sounds good, when do I start?" he folding up the job listings.
