A A A A

At an evening the Queen of Hearts was restless. Her husband the King of Hearts asked her what was wrong. She looked up and said: “I had a vision, my dear.”
“Again?”
“Yes.”
“What was it about this time?”
“You know, we aren’t the only deck of cards that are magical.”
“I know, sweetheart.”
“Some of them are in danger.”
“Did you feel that?”
“I’ve seen it.”
“You don’t make sense.”
“I saw a dark room with a fire place and a lot of vials. There was also a man or woman I couldn’t make it up because of the cloth that the person was wearing, it had a hoodie too. There were a lot of books, but I couldn’t make out the colour. And the person was busy with something, I couldn’t see what as his back was turned at me and smoke came from him. He or she is collecting us all. The person wants us and needs us. But I don’t know why. A strong desire came of the person and then nothing, the image disappeared.”
“Okay, sweetheart. Calm down.”, he took her by the shoulders. She nodded and they went to drink some tea with the other people born from cards.

At the spade group there was also some rumour about a person who wanted to collect all the playing cards that could come alive. And also at the other two symbol groups was this rumour present. They all tried to act calm, but deep down they were anxious and didn’t know what to do. They all did their regular duties. Every card had their duty and their gifts. The ace was an all-round mage, while three was a blood mage and four was a priest carrying holy magic but two could only heal the wounded. Five was a ranger, good enough to use any ranged weapon and even make them appear out of nowhere, as if a stage was in another dimension and only the wielder could open it. Nine was a bowman though and only used bows, while ten was a gunman and only used guns. Seven was a bomber and tried to place as much bombs as it could before the battle would start. Seven had teleportation magic to help with this task. Eight was an assassin and would jump on to people and kill them before they could ask anything. The jack was similar because he was a rogue, but he also had related magic to his position. The queen had premonition as her gift and her husband was a knight. The king could use any kind of sword that would have been handed over to him. He was also an excellent horse rider and paladin. He could summon beasts, mostly to use as transportation, but sometimes he dared to send them in battle without him on its back. Six was a soldier and could use any weapon that was ranged or wasn’t. The jokers were all round. They could do anything. They mostly used transformation magic. These were the gifts of every card in any magical deck. And that’s how it was. That’s how they could live at night. Most of the cards never ever thought about turning against their own book of cards. Mostly they lived in their own group of symbols and didn’t want to mix in with the others. But somewhere there must be a deck of cards in which every symbol was always together. And this was a dream that every book of cards tried to reach. All depended on the symbol that wanted to take the first step. But who would do that, when they are scared to fail?
