Being a student means that you will constantly have to write a lot of essays on different topics. However, many students find it extremely difficult to conduct competitive writing. Whether you are a born writer or not, these tips will help you write a good essay and if adopted will make essay writing very enjoyable.

Topic choice

If an essay topic has been assigned to you, the first step would be to define the objective of the essay. Is the aim for you to argue, summarize, analyze, etc.? If on the other hand you are asked to pick a topic, it would be interesting because you have been given the freedom to choose and tasking because you would need to convince your marker on your choice thoroughly.

Outline your ideas:

At this point, whether you were given a topic or you chose it yourself, you would need to state the purpose of your essay, what you aim to achieve and consider who your readers are.

Write your thesis statement:

This is where you briefly explain the whole point of the essay using the main ideas that you have previously outlined. The thesis statement gives the reader a clear picture of what the essay is about and should be straight to the point. The length of a thesis statement depends on the complexity of the essay.

The body of an essay:

The body of an essay takes up the largest part because you would be explaining more of your main ideas. It is good to have at most 4-5 main ideas in this section. These concepts are what forms the paragraphs in the body of the paper. For each main point, write out supporting statements to buttress it. After that, the supporting points should be elaborated more on, either through argument, description or analysis. Remember that there are no wrong or right answers in an essay.

Introduction:

The introduction should be concise and catchy to the reader. It should focus on the main problem of the assignment. The introductory part should be a few lines, after which, you introduce the thesis.

Conclusion:

The conclusion brings the essay to an end because this is where you review your main points, your expectations, comments, and recommendations if any.

References:

If you have made use of other people’s ideas, it is best to give credit to them to avoid getting charged for stealing intellectual property. Also, you can be accused of plagiarism and score low.

Review:

At this point, you should look through your work at least three times to check for grammatical errors, misspellings, logical reasoning, proper writing style and referencing.

However, many students lack the knowledge and time to write a competitive paper. Alternatively, you can hire online experts who offer writing essay service to write your essay assignments.
