They slowly pulled out of the garage, and made their way down the pathway. Eli looked up at the study. He saw a tall woman with sharp features peering out at him. He sank back in the seat. That must have been their mother. As they made their way out, Brenday Song peered at them suspiciously from the study.

“It’s very late, why are they leaving? Don’t they usually stay the night when they’re here this late?” she peered at Hayley through her glasses. Her hair was pulled back in a tight bun. She took off her blazer and set it on the chair, taking a seat. She folded her hands and sat back. Hayley swallowed hard.

“Well, they said they were busy tomorrow, and had to get going home.” Her mother raised her eyebrow.

“Oh really? That’s never been a bother any other time, why now?” Hayley shrugged.

“Who knows, those girls are funny sometimes.” Her mother unfolded her legs and sat forward.

“Someone told me that she had been hanging out with some boy while I was away. Are you familiar with him?” Hayley shook her head.

“No, I am not familiar with him. Perhaps she is finally making new friends?” she suggested. He mother scoffed.

“Well, that seems very unlike your sister. Where is she by the way?” she looked at Jayley. Hayley could feel herself starting to freeze. She shook off the feeling and recomposed herself.

                “She is in her room.”

Brenda nodded. “Get her. Now.”  Hyorin nodded and went off. A knot began to form in the pit of her stomach. The time had come. She hoped they would be prepared.

She knocked on her sister’s door. She opened the door to see here sister standing there. She knew by the look on her face that she was being called by their mother. She followed her in silence. Her heart was beating out of her chest. The time had come. Much too quickly for her. They approached the door. She looked at Hayley. She put her hand on her little sister’s shoulder.

“Just, stay calm, okay?” she nodded.

“Alright.” they turned, and headed into the study.

Their mother was sitting proudly at the desk, and motioned for them to sit.

“What do you think you’re playing at Elizabeth?” she got straight to the point. “What is this I hear about you going about with another man?” she slammed her fist on the desk. “Your engaged, GODDAMIT! I am NOT going to have to gad about with another man, and make me look like a fool!” Hee Sun took a deep breath, and spoke.

“I am NOT engaged. You told me to meet him. He has not met me, talked to me, or proposed to me. This is MY life. I did not ask you to intervene. I am not gadding about like some cheap whore, I am out with friends. If I DO have a boyfriend, it is none of your business until I reveal him to you.” Her mother stood up, went around the desk, and slapped her across the face.

“Mother! What are you doing?” Hayley shot up out of her seat.

“Whatever you do DOES reflect on me. I am you mother. You WILL do as you are told. I don’t care who this man is, where he’s from, what he does, you are NOT to continue seeing him.” she looked up at her mother.

“No. I love him! You can’t make me marry James I won’t! I don’t know him! I’ve never met him! This is NOT your life, it’s MINE!” Hyorin between her mother and Lizzy as she fled to her room.

“Was I not enough? You have to ruin Lizzy’s life as well? Do our wishes and aspirations mean NOTHING to you?” Her mother took a deep breath.

“I know what is best for you two! I am your MOTHER! This is what’s best for Hee Sun, not some little boy she met at school. It’s just a crush; she’ll get over it, and move on.” Hayley shook her head.

“No, Mom, it’s not like that. She really does like him. You making her try to leave him is just going to add fuel to the fire. Why doesn’t what she wants matter? Why didn’t what I want matter? Is money that much more important to you and dad?” her mother glared at her.

“Do NOT bring your father into this!”

“Oh that’s right, because YOU make all the decisions! He has no say, and when he does, you don’t even listen!”

“That is ENOUGH!” she slammed her fist on the desk again, cracking the wood. “I will NOT be talked down to by my daughters! I know what‘s best for you. I will make the decisions, and that’s the END of it. Nothing more from you,” she pointed at Hayley as she tried to speak up again.

“This matter WILL be resolved by my own hand, I guarantee it!” she stomped out of the office, and slammed the door. It echoed throughout the house, and shook the walls. Tears ran down Hayley’s face. Her sister had a lot on her plate now. She needed to be there for her. She took out her cell phone and called her husband.

“Hello? Hi dear, how are you? Look, I know it’s late but it seems that I won’t be able to meet you in Boston, I have some things to take care of, and so I’ll be staying in Los Angeles a bit longer. Ok? Alright, I love you too, goodbye.” She hung up her phone and headed out of the study. She knew what she had to do now, this, was war.
