A A A A

Thursday, 8th day before Christmas

. . .

The rustling sound of leaves resounded through the room as a gush of wind zipped past. All other noise was muffled for a moment, and a sigh escaped soft thin lips.

The rustling was still ringing in his ears, but the speaking and general rumbling of the classroom began to grow louder. However, he tuned everything out even as he unwillingly started to focus more on his surroundings. He didn't know why, but he just did. Perhaps it was his sixth sense. Perhaps it was trying to warn him of the tornado to come and maybe prepare him for it.

Well, in his mind, it was a tornado. It was probably a weekly happening in the minds of others though. Fridays were always a pain, because he normally wouldn't bother for a weekend meeting to end the relationship. It was Thursday.

Some people just didn't believe he would end it, even if it's almost an unspoken rule now.

The bleached-blonde girl who was just on his mind as he thought that (though it didn't apply only to her), burst into the room. She was at that moment the epitome of happiness. She'd be the opposite soon enough, though. In a day, he supposed.

"Takao-kun?" her voice slowly registered in his mind, much slower than it should have. Seeing her face, she'd probably called him a couple times now.

"Hanari-chan," he greeted back. The lack of his usual friendly-or-some-variant smile caused a drop of the smile that just appeared on her face when he looked at her then.

Takao sighed and closed his eyes, reopening them only when a gently and soft smile reached his lips.

Her expression brightened at that and she asked, butting onto half of his seat, "Harsh morning?"

Takao chuckled with a laid back nod. The few guys who insisted on hanging around him were buzzing around energetically. Something about their leader having the hottest girlfriend ever.

Takao didn't really see what there was to be proud of, since she was his girl and not theirs. Nor was she especially attractive. Plus, she was about to get dumped anyway.

"Class is starting soon, Hanari-chan. You should go," he motioned to the door after pecking the girl on the cheek.

She happily sauntered over and, before slipping out completely, stuck her head back in to ask, "You'll pick me up?" with a slight giddy tone.

Takao nodded, and, as she left, laid his head on the desk. Vaguely, he noted that the boy who never missed class before once since the beginning of the year was absent. He didn't pay it much mind. Well, it wouldn't have done much even if he did.

And there really was no reason to.

I'll update an image of Hanari in later. Hope it's okay. Feedback'd be nice.
