A A A A

1998...

15 September

5.25p.m.

Chasing dreams is impossible while chasing children.

I've requested to return early from work today.

As I walk into the living room, Alexis come running towards me, she leaps straight into my arms.

Hello birthday girl. You look stunning.

She really does look stunning. Her mom went all out with that golden silk dress and the complicated french braid. Not to mention those dainty yellow flowers which are also painstakingly braided onto her hair.

It's pure joy for me to see my daughter so becoming but a small voice keeps nagging at me.

You sure this is what she really wants...? You sure this is what she really wants...?

You're back. My wife wears a worn out, natural type of beauty on her face.

Over the past three years, she had sacrificed much for this family. Including her successful career, her time and her freedom.

But most of all, she had sacrificed her pride. My wife, She's a prideful women and yet she'll stop at nothing in order to protect Alexis and Olivia.

You look stunning too. I said as she give me her customary welcome home kiss.

After eight years of marraige and two children, our relationship isn't one with much romance and excitement.

You go ahead and doll Olivia up before pampering yourself with a nice long bath. I'll take care of this rascal. I said as I carry Alexis piggybacked.

and... I got this for you. Here.

I hold up a small purple paper bag. It contains her favorite bath oil, cheery blossom scented.

My wife seems truely happy for the first time in a long long time.
