A A A A

Paul Ian Chen, the last son of Chen’s family. Just by his name everyone realized how he is different from his two brothers. Paul is lively type of boy. He spends most of his time hanging out with his friends. Being away from family does not mean that he is good at listening to advice. He might be young and free but he is one stone headed guy.

Like other days, they hang out in the basketball court. Paul wore a sleeveless shirt and a short as he put a bandana on his head. He simply flashed his quirky grinned when he passed by his groups of friends.

Another boy with spiky dark bang smirked at his way. “What’s up with you today?” The latter asked. Paul shrugged innocently. “What? Was it illegal to smile that way?”

Joel rolled his eyes. Paul is very well-known for his cocky jokes, greasy and his role as the basketball captain. Almost like every girl will fall for him. Paul simply dodged a ball which Alan, the older twins of Chung’s brother threw. “Shut up. Just get your ass here already.”

The evening was not really cold, although winter is coming. In that country, it’s not too cold and neither too hot. Australia is really a great place for these guys. Eventually, they started their game right after. Paul threw the ball towards Alex direction. Joel ran after the other boy as he tried to pry off the ball out of his grip. He tricked Alex and grabbed the ball as he makes for his run.

Joel simply dunked the ball. “5:5” he smugly grinned. Paul huffed. He simply ran again after the ball. They had started sweating badly after the 3rd round. Daniel dunked the ball for his team this time as they screamed in glory. The 6 of them sat at a bench by the court. Paul took his water bottle and drank his water.

From another court, the girls were playing netball. One of them, Brianna, whom live a few houses after Paul, shrieked loudly as she jumped towards her friends. His eyes flitted towards their direction. Something was definitely different. Someone new is there. His eyes scanned the girls thoroughly.

Brown shoulder length hair, heart shaped lips when she smile and her laughter; caught his attention so much. He had a hard time to distract his eyes away from her. It’s like she’s some addiction.

“Summer, come over to my house later on!” Brianna hollered at the so called attractive girl that had caught Paul’s attention.

Summer turned around and beamed, “I will!” She replied her new friends.

Summer Velez had just moved to the new city that was foreign to her. She was born in Asia. Surely, she knows a lot about Asian. She moved because her mom had persisted. She can’t believe it herself when her mom had married with another guy when she was 10. Not that she hated the stepfather, but she doesn’t how her mother’s attention was no more about her. No more her spotlight.

The wind brusque her smooth brown hair away as she walked out of the netball court. Deanna shrieked in alarmed as a ball heading towards their new friend. However, it was too late. The ball had slammed down on Summer’s face. Paul eyes widened ever so widely.

Not more than a second, Summer had already fall to on the cold and hard ground. “Uh-oh.” Alex, the troublemaker bit his lips in fret.

Summer rubbed a sore spot where she had been hit with the ball. Alex on the other hand, stayed grounded on his spot didn’t know what to do. Paul ran towards her direction. He doesn’t know why but his legs had already made its way.

“Are you okay?” Paul held her wrist where she had touched her nose. Summer scrunched up her face in distorted. It was really bad. Her nose had turned bright red.

“Oh my god, am I bleeding?” she asked as she felt a warm fluid dropped from her nose. If she see it herself, she could have panicked nor frantic. Paul meekly nodded. Joel came running with a handkerchief. “Here you go.” He handed to Summer.

“Summer, are you okay?” Brianna queried. A moment later Brianna gasped as she realized there was blood flowed out of Summer’s nose.

Paul put a hand behind Summer’s back. Summer regained conscious as she held the handkerchief that had been given to her earlier and dabbed the blood.

This time the wind came again and blew her hair into her face. Paul who was near her could barely smell her sweet intoxicating scent. She smells so sweet that he could barely breathe normally. She was dangerously drawing him towards her.

“I’ll help you going home.” Paul found himself offering to help the girl.

Brianna was somehow skeptical with him. “She lives another way.” Brianna told him. Paul nodded and helped Summer up. He held her as they walked towards her house. She was squirming in pain. Her nose felt like as if she had broken it off. It irks her pretty much because college is going to open pretty soon.

Paul watched her. She is somehow attracted him. His eyes kept on lingered back to her. His eyes would dart once in a while towards her lips. Damn, he thought. If only she didn’t hurt her nose, Paul had prepared to tackle the lass.

“I’m new here.” Summer speak, she tilted her head at his direction. Paul gulped down his nervous. “Y-Yeah. I heard about you from my friend.” He stammered.

Summer raised her eyebrows and shrugged good-naturedly. For someone like her, she could barely care what them people have to say.

Paul rubbed his nape awkwardly but Summer finds it was a cute of him. She beamed, “You played basketball pretty well.”

A beet of light pink creep his cheeks. His dimple was showing. It was a thing that Summer finds attracting in a guy. There’s no way she’s didn’t adore this boy. The latter followed to the girl house. It was surprising, that Summer lived in the same house where the popular senior lived in too. Sophia Hale, the gracious yet beautiful senior in their college.

Paul would have asked if he did not think twice about the aftermath. But he forbids himself. He wants to get closer with this newbie, but not interrupting her this way. Summer turned to him to thank him. “Thank you for walking me home although we barely know each other.” She chuckled.

The sound of her chuckled instantly rang in his ears. He was so caught up that he didn’t realize the existence of a third person between them. A tall guy with a dark hair, black shirt and a navy skinny was examined him up and down.

“Ahem,” He cleared his throat. Summer too turned to the direction of the voice. Her brother was standing there, in the middle of the black gate. A big gate that almost did not show anything inside the house. He looked at the two of them with curiosity in his eyes. Zen, Summer biological brother was sure one over protective type. He probably loves her too much.

“Zen, be nice.” Summer prevent herself from rolling her eyes. She had encountered Zen being this way whenever a new guy was with her. Neither are they her friends or not. Zen shoved his hands inside the pockets of his skinny.

Paul scratched the back of his head a little befuddled. “You should go inside. Mom had been asking about you,” the Zen guy said. Summer sighed ever so loudly. “What the hell happened to your nose?” Zen literally raised his voice.

“Did he do it to you?” He inquired with his eyes widened ever so big. Zen glared sharply at Paul. If his glare was a laser, he could have bored a hole to the lad head. “NO! At least, not him.” Summer said. She heaved her sigh again this time.

“Let’s just get inside. You should better go. Thank you anyway.” She said one last time before the two siblings turn away. Paul watched them two. He did his little vicious smile. Now he got a better plan. He is so going to make her fall for him. And even more, to make her becomes his.

On Monday, college starts again. Paul made his way to the hallway along with his groups of friends. The twins brother, Alan and Alex were chatting rather loudly as they walked. Paul eyes lingered around as he talked about the classes they got with Joel. While on the other hand, Daniel was busy with his girlfriend leaning against the locker.

They were well-known, of course. The looks, wealth and sports were all about them.

Paul stood by his locker. A month ago, the owner of the locker next to him had moved to Canada. He was told that the girl who used to be the locker’s owner was transferred to Canada on family matters. Since then, Paul never really heard about her again later.

He took some of his books in his arms and brought it to his economy class. He, as one of the son who owned a big company took that class. As a younger student, he was quite intelligent. He literally knows a lot more than those successors out there about economy but Paul was wiser. He is no interested in that stuff.

He sat in the lecture hall. A little not too far from the front seat. He enjoyed sitting with Joel there. Their lecturer, Mr Jeremy started his lecture not long after that. All that Paul heard was that about how Japan became a high technological country and so.

There was a rather loud knock on the door. The owner of the college stood by the door, Mrs. Abby. Paul pursed his lips to a side as he scribbled over his note. A black frame glass he wore was perfectly located on the bridge of his nose.

Joel eyes darted to a girl whom trailed behind Mrs. Abby. She looks familiar. Maybe he had seen her somewhere before. Or maybe he actually knows her? Joel watched the lasso’s movement as she smiled through the crowd.

“Students, I brought you a new friend here. This is Ms. Summer Velez, who had just moved from Malaysia to here.” Mrs. Abby spoke. She beamed at the said girl.

Paul didn’t pay attention until his sharped ear perks up when he heard the familiar name. Summer Velez, he repeated in his mind.

And he was right. It was the girl he had walked home a week ago. The girl that made him adored her in a strange way where he had never done before. Not that he care, but he just simply didn’t really fall for girls easily. Yeah, he has lots of rumors of going on a date with random girls but not this one.

He could sense she was something different. “Summer.” He rephrased the name in a low voice which was like a whisper.

“Okay. Be good to her now.” The aging woman, Mrs. Abby reprimanded before she left the lecture hall. Summer was then introduced by Mr. Jeremy too. He let her sit a few seats away from Paul. Just perfectly where he could observed her all along. He smiled to himself.

He watched her talking to one of the girls, smile and discussing about the lectures given. His eyes were on her, watching her keenly. Who had expected all this coming?
