Babys Breath - fluff lotr lordoftherings legolas shortfic valentinesday valentines - main story image

A A A A

Trees sway in the wind, birds chirp in the distance, leaves crunch beneath your feet. These were the sounds that surrounded you and your lover. Legolas stops and observes the forest around you. The both of you stand in the middle of an open space. A circular clearing made with trees, and leaves, grass, and flowers conceal Earth's soil are all in your view.

No words have been spoken, yet both of you know what the other is thinking.

Legolas sits upon the green floor before him. He sees you not sitting and lifts his right hand palm up toward you. You heart fills with joy and you can't help but to smile at him, teeth sparkling from sunlight. You place your left hand in his and sit beside him. Hands depart, but the warmth still lingers within.

He turns his head to the sky above and you do the same. The sky is clear of clouds with the occasional bird soaring through the air.
Watching nature's beauty is even more breathtaking and time consuming when you are with Legolas. You turn your head to look at Legolas. The sun makes his hair shine and brings out his manly features. Jaw line defined and nose shaped to perfection. You hadn't realized you were staring until Legolas turns to face you. His face just inches away and your brain starts to not function right. He must have noticed because he chuckled, pearly whites directed your way. Your heart faltered and stomach filled with butterflies.

Legolas remembered that the two of you came for a calm, romantic mini-picnic. He reaches for the basket and opens it, pulling out grapes and handing them to you. You watch as he plucks one off and eats it, then plucks another to hold it near your mouth. Panicking, you quickly just eat the small, round, and violet fruit while avoiding eye contact. Again, Legolas chuckles at your cuteness.

The idea was to have a snack and enjoy each other and their presence. The flowers surrounding you caught your eye while eating an orange slice. All of the colors looked so beautiful. Legolas watched you admire the flowers and noticed you had not noticed the most beautiful of them all. All of the purples, reds, yellows. All of these colors took over your mind. You simply were looking at them for their face value. This was only because you were uneducated in flowers, or nature in general, but Legolas wanted to change that.

A hand waving in front of you brought you to your senses and you looked up at Legolas. He then pointed to a cluster of tiny, plain flowers while smiling. You didn't understand why. Why was he pointing to those flowers when there were so many beautiful, colorful ones here

He told you they reminded him of you and for a second you felt insulted.

Those flowers?

Why those?

Legolas explained that it represented such great qualities.

Devotion.

Innocence.

Sensitivity.

Hearing him name all these qualities made you realize you were wrong. Inside you felt so grateful to be told you are like such a flower.
Legolas smiles and watches his love wash over you. When you smile at him, you thank him as well making his smile even bigger.

Closer and closer, he leans in towards you and your face heats up. He stops just an inches from your lips and looks into your eyes. You slightly shake your head and he leans in further to press his lips against yours. His lips make you feel light-headed. Nothing else really matters as of now, but the feeling of his soft lips on yours.

Soon you depart and you look each other in the eyes. Such emotion filled his eyes and yours as well.

Legolas kisses you back and the rest is only known to the surrounding nature.
