At Least He Took Half The Blame.

A A A A

It’s awkward after breaking up with someone who wasn’t even a bad guy.

It’s even awkward-er seeing him smiling at you as he entered the lecture hall during joined lecture, waving earnestly as he was looking for a seat next to his friend when his usual seat was by your side. You get the glares from both of yours and his friends.

“You broke up with him?”

“Uhm, yeah?”

“You broke up with HIM?”

“Did I fucking stutter?”

“But he was your CRUSH!”

She shrugged and waved back at her ex-boyfriend who was still waiting for her reply. He smiled and nodded before focusing back on the petite lecturer for Economics in front of the hall. One of his friends was still glaring at her angrily, and she rolled her eyes before she gave him the finger. He seemed surprised; blinking thrice before turning to her ex-boyfriend and whispered something into his ears.

Bla bla bla she was rude bla bla you’re lucky to have broken up bla bla—

“Now that’s the girl I know,” someone suddenly tapped her shoulder from the back and whispered silently into her ears. Sergeant was grinning at her when she turned around.

“I’m blaming you for this,” she said as she passed the notes given by the lecturer to him. Sergeant laughed, receiving the papers and passing it to the person next to him.

“It’s okay, I’m cool with it. Part of it was my fault too, I admit that,” he said, this time offering her a chewing gum which she gladly took from his hand. Their fingers brushed and he seemed stunned. She thought that was a weird reaction.

“What?” she asked, mouth munching the gum. He shook his head and smiled.

“Nothing.”

“Find me another boyfriend,” she demanded, and he laughed a bit louder that it attracted attention from across the hall. The lecturer in front stopped talking, and called out his name (because he was famous for his Uncle’s look so it wasn’t a surprise, really) and she stifled a laugh as he solemnly walked down to the front of the hall.

He was told to stand next to the stage until the class ended (because the lecturer was a strict spinster), and she could see him muttered something inaudibly to her;

‘I’m blaming you for this.’

She laughed, gave him a thumbs up before continued jotting down notes.

She didn’t realise her ex-boyfriend who was glancing at her and Sergeant simultaneously, biting his lower lip and drawing circles inside his notebook instead of the notes written on the blackboard.

Silly her, she didn’t even realise she was hurting a really nice guy.
