Crystal loved her mom.

She really did.

But why would she get her such a stupid birthday present?

A doll.

A stupid porcelain doll.

Did she forget she was actually a woman?

And a grown woman at that?

She sighed and placed it on her dresser.

She couldn't throw it away.

She had to keep it.

She could easily ignore it anyways.

Crystal checked the time on her computer, 2:56am. It was late.

She continued to search the web for random things. She updated her social media as well.

Her fingers froze. She felt like she was being watched. She chose to ignore it.

Tick Tock.

She couldn't. She looked up and saw no one. Her eyes caught sight of the doll sitting across the room on her dresser. It was staring unemotionally.

She looked at it again. She didn't like the way it stared at her. She sighed hoping to just get over it. It was a doll for crying out loud.

She laughed as she typed a reply to one of her friends comments on his post. Why they were both up? Neither knew.

Crystal looked up. The doll was still looking at her. She narrowed his eyes. Wasn't the dolls head tilted to the other side? She shook it off as her imagination.

Tick Tock

She looked up again. She blinked. Did it move? Did it move closer to the edge of the desk? She stared at it wondering. She must have been imaging it. It was too early.

She looked up. Her heart dropped. Where was it? Where was the doll? It wasn't there anymore. She felt her heart race. Where was the doll?! She moved her computer from her lap and froze. It had been resting against her computer.
