How we met

CHAPTER ONE

 

Kim Byungjoo was a quiet person who loved to read,and he also had of friends. But when he found out that he had lung cancer at the age of nine, Byungjoo became mostly a house rat, his friends stuck around but they had their own love stories to deal with.

 

It had been a month since he had moved out of his mother’s home and moved in his own place. His mother had been a helicopter mother ever since Byungjoo had cancer, but after convincing his mother to let him live across town, she would call everyday to check on her only son.

Things were getting thrown around in Byungjoo’s home, Two older men dug through his draws, “Hey Mike I don’t think they have anything.” The other man shrugged and continued looking inside the young man closet. Then everything went dead silent and the two robbers stopped moving. “Do you hear that ?” The two thieves turn around to see a black creature, it was shaped like a large cat. The creature growled at the two men.

One of the men started screaming and headed for the door with the other man following close behind. Byungjoo closed his car door and realized that his front door was open, The young man gasped, he remembered closing his door and locking it. Was he getting robbed? Two men ran out the front door and past Byungjoo as if he didn’t exist. “Hey who are you guys ?” The two men ignored him and drove away.

Byungjoo gulped and hoped that the two men hadn’t stolen anything. The house was a mess, everything had been thrown around, Fortunately nothing had been stolen. Byungjoo had felt a weird vibe in his house, something was off. Byungjoo had the feeling of being watched. The young boy turned to the closet and spotted glowing eyes staring right back. Byungjoo jumped back in surprise,  Byungjoo slowly reached for the nearest  object. He eventually touched one of his slipper that he received from his sister on christmas. “What ,who are you ?” Byungjoo received no response but the creature continued to stare at the teen.  

 

Byungjoo looked closer and saw a wagging tail. Byungjoo tried to make sure that the thing in his closet was just an animal so he waved the slipper around, the glowing eyes moved with it. Byungjoo sighed he was glad the no alien was in his closet. Byungjoo ran to his kitchen and put milk in a small bowl.  Byungjoo placed the bowl a few inches away from the closet. Byungjoo called the cat by making kissing noises.

 

Byungjoo noticed that the cat started coming closer. Byungjoo gasped when he saw a human hand reaching out the closet instead of a cat hand. “What the hell ?” Byungjoo shouted. Finally the upper part of the boy came out of the dark. Byungsoo stared at the boy with his mouth a gapped.

The boy had White hair, his eyes were blinding gray and sitting on top of the boys head were two black and white  cat shaped ears. Byungjoo started at the beauty and gulped. “WH…-What are you?” Byungjoo asked stepping further away. The cat-boy ignored the older boy and drank the milk that Byungjoo had put down. Byungjoo bit his lip, never in his life did he imagine to see something so beautiful. “More.” Byungjoo turned to see the cat-boy sitting on his knees placing the empty bowl in front of Byungjoo’s face.

“You want more?” Byungjoo stuttered grabbing the bowl quickly. The cat-boy nodded almost instantly. Byungjoo listened to order. He had watched alien abduction before in movies, and today he wasn’t planning to get killed.

Byungjoo returned with the milk, the cat-boy was still sitting in the livingroom. Byungjoo gave the boy the milk then quickly took a step back.
Byungjoo watched how quickly the cat-boy drank down the milk, only then did Byungjoo realize how skinny the boy was. Byungjoo had made his mind up that the cat-boy was quite harmless. “Food !” The cat-boy looked at Byungjoo with pleading eyes.

Byungjoo sighed and gulped, grabbing bowl quickly, Byungjoo walked into the kitchen and placed the bowl down. Byungjoo reached inside the fridge and grabbed some fish that he had fried just a day earlier.

The cat-boy  ate the fish quickly. Byungjoo sat closely by and watched. “So… whats your name ?” The boy stopped stuffing his mouth and looked at Byungjoo. “Monster whore.” The boy smiled and continued eating. “Monster whore?” Byungjoo repeated.

So this Cat-boy was a whore ? “Don’t you have another name?” Byungjoo gasped and started rocking back and forth. “Well my name is Byungjoo.” The cat-boy turned to Byungjoo and smiled. “Friends.” Byungjoo was surprised. “You want to be my friend?” The cat-boy nodded and showed his teeth.

 

Byungjoo’s phone started to ring, Byungjoo checked and saw it was just his mother calling to check on him. “Hey mom.”Byungjoo picked up the phone. “Oh B-joo dear, I was just calling to check on you, are you feeling O.k today. Did you take your medicatio-” The cat-boy snatched the phone and started swiping away at the screen. “Hey what are you doing, give it to me!” Byungjoo tried to retrieve the phone from the younger.

Byungoo could hear his mother’s worried voice on the other side of the phone. “Mom.”The cat-boy shouted into the phone. “Stop it.” Byungjoo snacthed the phone and put it to his ear. “Who was that, what happened?”Byungjoo started at the younger as he jumped up and down quickly. “That was just my ………………….” Byungjoo remembered the cat-boys face when he asked him to be his friend. It will kill Byungjoo if he put out such a beautiful adorable rare creature. “That was my friend, he just moved in with me this morning.” His mother sounded pleased. “Just make sure that friend of yours takes care of my B-joo for me.” Byungjoo coughed and laughed. “Mom.” The cat-boy repeated to the older boy. “O.k I guess it’s pretty obvious that you be staying with me from now on, so what should we name you?” Byungjoo scratched his head and thought hard about a name. “I know !”  The cat-boy and Byungjoo looked at each other.   ”Hansol.” Byungjoo was proud, he had come up with such a cool name for a beautiful creature. Hansol smiled and started to jump around once more. “Hansol.” He repeated excitedly. Byungjoo had never raised a cat before but he was sure that it was easy. “Hansol friend, Byungjoo friend too.” Hansol said looking into Byungjoo’s eyes. Byungjoo coughed and started to wheeze, he had to take his medicine and he had gotten distracted talking to Hansol. “Byungjoo!” Hansol ran over to the older boy. “Get...My……… In …..Bathroom window.”Byungjoo managed to say. Hansol ran to the bathroom and looked at the mirror.

“Byungjoo, can’t find it.” Hansol shook the older. Byungjoo had fainted and Hansol sat over the body. “Friend wake up.”Hansol slowly leaned down and placed his lips on Byungjoo and blew in.

Byungjoo quickly opened his eyes and gasped. “What just happened ?” Byungjoo looked the living room. Hansol smiled and hugged the older boy. “Byungjoo, not hurt.” Byungjoo giggled and pet Hansol’s hair, “Byungjoo is O.k.” Hansol started purring. “What ?” Byungjoo raised his eyebrows then remembered that Hansol was half cat. “This is weird.” Byungjoo mumbled, Byungjoo slowly started petting Hansol. Suddenly Byungjoo started to feel as if he could live forever. Byungjoo placed his left hand on his chest, it felt as if his heart had been replaced with something new. Byungjoo looked at Hansol who had fell asleep after his petting session. Byungjoo closed and slowly dozed off.
