A A A A

Alexander stood in front of the door and his right hand held the knob. He won't mind about how long he would stay in that room. In her room. He just wanted to be there to take a look of her room. It might be the last look, but he'll make sure that everything will remain in his heart. Just like how she remained in him.

He took a deep breath and finally twisted the doorknob. As if he was going to surprise himself, he closed his eyes for a moment as he entered the room. He quietly walked in and he savored the familiar cherry blossom scent of the room, slowly opening his eyes.

Everything seemed so orderly nice, clean and quiet unlike he knew before. He got used on seeing bits of colored papers, pencils, candy and chips wrappers just lying around every time they hang out after school. The noise and laughter they made only echoed in his head, too. Alexander felt as if he was in someone else's room but no, it was hers.

Alexander started looked around. The bedroom walls were painted light yellow and pink in narrow vertical strips while the panels were plainly colored white. He couldn't remember how many times those were re-painted because they kept on writing and drawing on them when they were still kids. On the left corner, a small bed was placed just under the windows where the curtains hung motionlessly. He remembered how she would close them after he teased her that a ghost will come and get her while she sleeps. Beside it was a small drawer with a bedside lamp on it where he used to complain during their sleepovers because he can't sleep with its lights on while her, can't do the same. On the right corner, a closet can be found. He recalled how he got irritated that he almost ruined her lavender dress because she played a prank by forcing him to wear it, thinking on how he would look like if he was a girl. Lastly, Alexander shifted his gaze to her favorite part of her bedroom, the wooden vinyl-colored study table where she would just sit and unknowingly stare at the stars from the windows rather than do her homework or study for upcoming exams.

Nothing much had changed. Nothing was moved either. The only thing that had changed was the ambience. The happy and light feeling had gone. After she did. And it was too quiet.

He walked towards the bed and sat there, feeling the soft and smooth sheets under his hands. Closing his eyes again, he recalled how their story started. They were best friends since they were still kids. They grew up together and the feeling had immersed into something that no words can explain. Knowing without saying what they feel for each other was just enough.

   Alexander, I love you.
