WINTER HOLIDAY TREAT

 

 

I don’t know how the months flew. Three months have passed. All of us were busy with our exams.

More the time I’m spending with Ariel, more the secret crush I have on her increases. I want to tell her so badly but I’m really scared to speak about it.
What if her response is negative?? I know I sound crazy but I won’t be able to bare it.

 

Soon before I could enjoy my vacation, my worst enemies, the most feared bullies decided to say good bye to me on the last day of the working day in a sweet manner. So this is how it went.

 

“Hi Chris. How are you?” Charles, the huge guy with rather monkey looking face spoke to me is a caring tone.

 

This is an advice to all the victims of bullies, if the bullies behave in a kindly manner, watch out! They are going to give you a gift which is worse than the direct attack you expect from them.

 

“We’ve got a gift for you. Here, a brand new skating board.” he said giving me the oldest broken skateboard I have ever seen in my life. I heard one of them from the trio snigger.

 

“Why aren’t you speaking? Is that you didn’t like is, Christy?” a lean guy asked.

 

As I knew that if I say something against them, my rest of my life in this school is gonna be a nightmare. So for my best, I said, “Yeah sure. I er- liked it.It’s awesome.”

 

“Wow! He liked it! So let’s see him ride it. I have heard that you are excellent in skating.” The gang leader, Matt mocked. He was the ugliest of all. “Why don’t you skate from here? It looks like a good place to show us your skills.”

He turned to another two of this gang and whispered something with excitement. I had a great urge to run away from the very spot but unfortunately, the monkey looking guy’s heavy arms were resting on my shoulders.

“Now!” the gang leader commanded. The next moment, I found myself wriggling free from the two boys the leader whispered. I swear that today was my most unlucky day ever.

Soon, my hands and legs were tied up behind me so tightly that I felt my wrists bleeding and later became numb. The monkey faced lifted me up and made me stand on the skate board. It made cracking noises under my weight. Then I realized where I was posted. I was on top of steepest street which was next to my school.

It was true that I was good in skating, but on a skateboard like that, I literally saw my doom. A push and was rolling my way down the slope. I say, it was really cruel but still they didn’t care.

When I was pushed down, I tried my level best to control the board with my tied legs but still I collided into someone hard and I heard a shrill scream. Blackness soon started to creep from the corner of my eyes…

 

 

When I opened my eyes, I was on the park bench with few people around me. My ankle was and wrists’ were bandaged.

“What happened?” I asked. I felt dizzy.

“Don’t worry son. You’re just fine. You have got a twisted ankle with little cuts and also on your wrists’ and a small bruise on your head.” A little old man with twinkling eyes consoled me.

“You see, you are really lucky.” Said another man with a boyish face. "If it wasn’t for those kind boys-" He pointed to the gang who pushed me down. “-And that girl whom you bumped, you would have been in emergency room.” He pointed to an empty bench. “Now where did that girl disappear?  She had fractured her arm! And she is not supposed to move-“

Oh no. now I remember on whom I bumped into. Oh my Gosh! It was Ariel! Where is she? I didn’t care about my sprained ankle.

When the group was searching for Ariel, I took my chance and ran to my home which was close by.

 

 

 

Good that my mom wasn’t at home or she would have made a big scene in the house about the injury.

 

First, I went to take a warm head bath and changed into warm comfortable cloths. My bruises didn’t hurt me much as I bandaged them. I felt chills on my backbone at the thought of bruised Ariel.

 

I then ran to the public park, to the spot where she usually spent her time after the class, doing her homework and other stuffs.

 

I was panting as I reached under the heave branched tree when I heard a familiar voice wondering aloud about something. I looked to find myself amused to see Ariel perfectly okay.

 

On seeing me, she jumped down with her bag and books. “Hi.”

Instead of replying, I asked, “What were you doing on that branch?”

“Oh.” She said looking at her favorite branch. “I was sitting there.”

“Yeah.Er- I could see that. But why?” I asked curiously.

She chuckled. “Actually, that’s my favorite spot. That place is really cool. The view you get from there is fantastic.”

“Oh.” I looked up playing with time.

“Hey, did you hear about a guy being bumped into a girl?” She started by loading her stuffs near the roots of the tree.“I’m sure that that guy was a crack-pot. I mean, look, from the school till the park’ entrance is so steep and from there skate till the park, who in the right mind will do that? He surely must have lost his mind.”

 

I looked at her with a blank face.
Will, the guy who tried to flirt with Ariel, was a witness who saw what happened up there, popped up. “Are you alright? You could have broken your neck! Good you’re looking better. And Hello Ariel.”

 

“Er- what did he meant by that?” She asked me with a concerned look.

“You know, that nut guy you were talking about, it was I who skated from there.” I muttered

 

“Oh.” She looked embarrassed. “Then, why didn’t you balance yourself on that board?”

“Ha. Good question.”

 

Then I filled her up with all the details. She was shocked!

I could see that she felt pity for me. “What about the girl?”

 

“It seems that fell off the bench. When they found her on the floor, you disappeared.” Will replied. “And bye guys. I better get going.” And we bid our goodbye to him as he moved on.

 

Ariel was quiet like she was thinking for a while. “Hey, why don’t you try to protect yourself? Like some martial arts or anything? It helps a lot against them, doesn’t it?” She asked at last.

“Yeah, I guess so.”

“So learn some defense moves.”

“How? From whom? I don’t know anyone who knows any arts. You know anyone?”

She shrugged then again fell into deep thought. “Maybe, I can teach you.”
