Foreword

"there is so many things in this world to live for, why die because of something small?"

i scowl as i fiddle with my jacket, abstractedly look up to meet my friend's gaze. her eyes seem so powerful—so alive, it almost hurts to look away. i gently breath in; my grip on the balcony bricks tightening. i know that if i let go now, my friend won't be able to be fast enough to catch me and i would peacefully pass away; my blood and dead corpse staining the white pavement below.

"hey angel."

i briefly glance back into my friend's eyes again. "what?"

she expression softens and for a second i almost felt as if there is actually a person in this world who doesn't share my blood but cares about me.

"you know," her voice cracks, "if you die, i'll miss you. who's going to be texting me at freaking 3am in the morning when there's an exam on the next day, who's going to stand up for me even when my entire group of friends turn their backs to me and who's going to be there to remind me, you're not alone when i get upset or moody?"

a tone tear falls out of my eye and in a split second—it is gone. "i'm sorry alice," i admit, "i'm sorry."

with that, i let go.
