A A A A

--

After school, I grabbed all my stuff and walked out. I started to walk on the field, since it was a short cut to my neighborhood. I saw the football team out, but where was...

"I see you got my note," David said as jogged to catch up with me. "It looks good on you."

Oh my goodness, he scared me. I scoffed as I looked down my body, his jacket covering my entire body like it was a dress, "I look stupid, but thank you. It saved me from creeps in the hallway."

David gave me a warm smile. "I never seen you in a while."

I nodded, "Yeah, you want your jacket back?" I asked while started to remove one of the sleeves.

But he stopped me, "No, I don't need it right now. Just give it back to me later."

"Oh. Okay, cool, thanks," I said. "How's practice?" I asked. David was in his football jersey and paddings, his helmet was off though, he was holding it in his hands, along with his mouth piece.

He sighed, "Exhausting; I wish I could just eat ice cream all day and not gain a pound."

I laughed, "You sound like a girl!"

David only shrugged, "Hey, guys can be like girls too. We can have ice cream cravings."

"Yeah, I guess," I agreed.

"Wilson! Break time is over, tell your girlfriend goodbye and come join the rest of us!" His coach shouted and blew his whistle. "Hustle, hustle, hustle, Wilson!"

I blushed at the thought of people thinking I was David's girlfriend. Which made me blush more was that he didn't deny that I was his girlfriend to his coach.

David looked right into my eyes, "I have to go, I'll see you later Bridget," he waved and started to run back. But since he was trying to put his mouth piece on while running, he tripped and fell onto the grass. "I'm okay!"

I laughed at the sight. Classic, clumsy David

Three weeks later.

"Ah! I can't believe it's finally summer! Just a week until break!" Emma exclaimed. "I can't wait to go to the beach already!"

"Yeah same here," I said to Emma, who was busy doing forward lunges. I stretched my arms and my legs. "I never felt so stretchy in my life. Cheerleading makes you so flexible!"

Emma chuckled, "I'm just happy you joined this year, remind me to thank David later."

I stuck my tongue out, "Whatever."

Just then, my squad members, Samantha and Mika join the conversation after the name 'David' was mentioned.

"Did you two say David, as in David Wilson? The cute new kid that moved here?" Mika asked.

Emma and I nodded at the question.

"Oh my god, he is so hot!" Samantha added, "Plus he's in the football team; makes him even more attractive!"

Mika spoke, "Plus he has that nice sun kissed skin! Oh, I wish I had a boyfriend like him."

"I heard that he never had a girlfriend!" Samantha shared, which even shocked me.

"Whoa, let's go back here, David has never had a girlfriend before?" Emma asked.

Samantha shrugged, "That's what I was told."

"Aw, must be some rumor! A hot guy like him, he must of had some in the past!" Mika said.

"Hey, guys, Bridget is pretty hot too, but she never had a boyfriend so it's probably true about David," said Samantha. "The world makes no sense anymore!"

Other girls might be embarrassed about it, but it's true. I never had a boyfriend and I don't really care if others know about it. Mika gasped, "Are you serious?!"

I grinned, "Yup, I was single my entire life."

"And you are proud at that?" Mika asked. "That's just...wow."

"I know, I don't really care. Yes, boys asked me out before but I rejected them," I explained.

"What? Why!?" Mika asked. Out of the three, she was the most shocked due to the fact this must be her first time hearing about this.

"I don't know, they just didn't appeal to me. I guess I want to find someone special, that's all," I reasoned.

Mika nodded, "I see, I see..."

"Yeah, Bridget even got asked out by Leonard, that Chinese cutie, but she turned him down," Emma shared.

Mika and Samantha gasped, "You've got to be kidding me!" Samantha boasted.

I nodded, "That is also true."

Apparently, according to social status, Leonard is one of the most popular guys at my school ever since he moved here from China. He had girls falling for him every minute.

It shocked everyone, and I mean everyone, including my teachers, that I rejected him. I don't even get why he liked me, we only spoke to each other in Science.

Did I feel bad? Yes I did. Well...at first I didn't since I didn't feel the same way he felt, but since he even bought a giant teddy bear, flowers, balloons (twelve to be exact), and a chocolates for me, I felt very guilty.

"What happens now? Are you guys friends?" Mika asked.

"Fortunately, yes, we are. After I rejected him, he told me it was okay and that he understands," I explained.

"Wow..." Samantha said in a tiny voice. "Do you like anyone now?"

That question got their heads turning in my direction.

I shrugged, "I don't know."

And I was not lying when I said that.

I didn't know, in fact, I don't even know if I liked anyone before.

Suddenly, a whistle was blown, from coach, and we all stopped the gossiping.

But in the entire practice, that question still pondered in my head; did I like anyone?

After practice.

"Go wash up, grab your things girls, practice is over!" Coach announced, "Remember to practice those cheers!"

Emma and I quickly gathered all of our stuff and headed to the girls locker room. "Can I borrow some soap?" Emma asked while she started to remove her shoes.

"Yeah sure, save some for me though," I said while handing her the bar.

"Thanks Bridget, you're the best!" Emma said and skipped to the showers.

I was about to go in the showers when Mika called me. "Bridget."

"Yeah?" I asked while turning to face her, "What's up? Anything wrong?"

Mika smiles, "I'm fine, you mind coming out to the field with me, I think I forgot my make up bag there."

"Yeah sure, I'll go, just give me a second to tell Emma so she won't freak out that I left her," I said.

She laughed, "Okay."

After I explained myself to Emma, I followed Mika to the field.

"Where do you think you put it?" I asked.

She shrugged, "I went through all my things but I still couldn't find it."

"Is that it over there?" I pointed to the bleachers. "Why won't we go check it out."

Mika followed along and it turns out it was her make up bag. "Yay! You found it! Thanks Bridget!"

"It was nothing," I chuckled. "Can we head back in now, I want to shower."

"Oh yeah, come on, let's go!"

When we started to head back, we heard a whistle blow. Both Mika and I turned our heads to see where it came from. It was the football team, they just finished practice.

"Isn't that the football team?" Mika questioned.

"Yup," I answered.

"Hey," a deep voice whispered in my ear suddenly. I jumped in surprise.

"What the hell David, you made me have a heart attack!" I said while punching his arm.

Mika smiled and greeted David. He replied back with a smile and a simple wave.

"What are you two doing out here?" he asked. "It's cold out, you guys might catch a cold."

"Aw, how thoughtful of you," Mika blushed, "We just came out to find my bag that I forgot."

David nods, "Ah. I see."

"How was practice?" Mika asked him quickly.

He wiped off some of the sweat dripping on his forehead, "It was alright. It was hot today. What about you guys?"

Mika elbowed me to talk, "Hm? Oh, practice? It was very tiring. We did a lot of back flips today," I explained. I touched my back and winced at the pain, "It made my back all sore."

David laughs a little, "I hope you get better Bridget." He looks back at the field, his whole team was in the boys locker room already. "I need to wash up, I'll see you guys later." He said and walked away.

"Bye David!" Mika shouted afterwards. She sighed happily, "Bridget," she called.

"Yes Mika?" I answered while starting to walk back to the girls locker room.

"Can I tell you something and you promise not to tell anyone else?"

I removed the rubber band in my hair while nodding a little, "Sure, I'll keep my mouth shut."

Mika smiled and giggled to herself, "I like David."
