Suspicious/FFO turning in to AFF?

Okay...is this just me, or is this horribly suspicious? There are so many users yet there's no activity at all.

In addition, there are many users on that page that are obviously from AFF. It's pretty obvious because of the kpop usernames and there aren't many other people who have heard of this site that aren't from AFF. Clearly, it's because this fanfiction site doesn't have a big community yet like fanfiction.net,  LJ, and WattPad.

The thing is, seeing all these blank profiles is really setting me on my toes.

Why?

Because I'm afraid the FFO community may turn into something smiliar (and hopefully less serious) to that of the AFF community.

Having been a user on AFF for so long, I've seen users make fake accounts just to upvote and subscribe to their own story in hopes of getting it featured. Unfortunately, I've also seen that on here on FFO when the site isn't even an eigth as loud as AFF.

(Also, about the kpop users...they're DPs are all blank. You'd think that at least ONE of them would set a DP, kpop related or not.)

Moreover, the user who wrote the story was even featured....I don't know how that happened but that's not really the point here.

The point is, I'm seriously hoping that FFO won't be full of authors just writing for fame, but writing for the actual sake of writing. Seeing authors making fake accounts is the worst, as well.

Now, on a even more serious note, I may seem like a user just trying to stir trouble. However, I'd like to clear that I'm not. I like to observe (as creepy as that may sound xD), share my opinion, write, and that is all (with some occasional blogging xD).

Yeah, it'll pick up but I think they should change the look of FFO, it looks a lot like AFF.

i have an account there too, for my 1D fic~♥

hopefully, this site will stay low-key (i'd rather have it that way). i mean, you can actually write and get criticism here, if you ask, unlike aff where everything is just like "update pls"

Probably most of them--the ones you're speculating--have heard about FFO, and became curious, and so made their own accounts here. You know, just to check the site out.

Maybe, reserved a username or something and then will get back to when FFO becomes more established or popular.

That said, maybe that's why they didn't bother to upload something for their DP. (I don't have a DP of my own because I'm lazy like that, and I hardly log in as well, but I know I'm not a fake user.)

Personally though, I don't think there's anything wrong with having a Kpop-related username. Most of these users came from AFF anyway and since FFO is a sister site, that can't be helped.

And I admit that I made an account using a Korean idol's name...but it's because I want to like, reserve him OTL

Lol now that I'm free I'm going to start making JacksGap fanfiction...XD

I think it is probably just a bunch of people who made accounts after I made that announcement but aren't really interested like sleepwalker said. I doubt the average AFFer would stick around here especially with the kpop ban I instituted which is totally okay by me.

My goal with FFO is to be "not AFF" and to try to foster more meaningful conversations with more diverse writing. I mean, just reading the comments on this blog is an order of magnitude more reasoned than what I've gotten accustomed to. We can still do that while the community is small. I'll try to code things a little differently here as well once I get the chance to try to ensure that.

I honestly don't think people like this are trying to make fake accounts. I mean, maybe they don't have time to edit their profiles and such...seeing a blank profile doesn't really mean that person is subscribing to their own stuff or whatever.

I honestly love to be on AFF, but if I could, I would restart it. It's just getting to out of hand and out of control (that means the same thing) It can get pretty serious sometimes and like I said, it really makes me uncomfortable seeing that.

Exotic_Inspirit_Baby  on says:
I get really bothered when there are useless accounts made when you are just trying to get famous. I just can't stand the sight of things being either wasted or ignored by someone else (with myself as an exception...I'm sorry *face-palms*) But I get really really uncomfortable emotionally (I don't know why, I would just feel uncomfortable feelings inside me when I see or sense something I don't like), if you really knew me well in real life, you would know that I can have some really crazy and out-of-this-world dislikes... It'll take too long to explain so I'll end this here, haha.

My theory is that since Jason created that blog post promoting FFO, many users made accounts even if they weren't interested.
But it is strange that that user got featured. O_O
I mean, although I'm on a semi hiatus now, I would interact with people and that contributed to people reading my stories. I dunno how someone can get featured just like that T.T
I hope FFO won't turn out to be a breeding ground for a popularity battle since it's so easy to get featured. This is why I have mixed feelings about being on the popular author's list - you are constantly being scrutinized and targeted. People have this negative view of popular authors due to AFF stereotypes.

tbh I didn't really think about these users creating accounts with kpop-oriented/idols name to subscribe or upvotetheir own stories when I see these blank profile picture and empty profile. I just merely thought they were trying to claim usernames on which they plan to use when this site gets popular enough. You na mean? Seriously there's freaking two thousand registered users and less than fifty gets online here most of the time. Ugh. I hope FFOF will never be like AFF. It's so messy there, I don't want this site to be 'polluted' too.

Can we like, report these users and some actions might be done?
