A A A A

Jessica Song , a girl who only has one wish: to find the man of her dreams. But life’s truly ironic. When she decided to have her future read, she finds out about her ‘SOULMATE’. But then, her wish turned out to be more than what she asked for.

“Hey, Jess. Aren’t you gonna dance” Jessica’s best friend, Hannah, asked. It was now 6 in the evening and instead of heading home after school, they made their way to the club. Hannah said that her so called ‘boyfriend’ was meeting her there. Jessica shook her head in response.

“Fine suit yourself.” Hannah stood up from the couch and made her way to the dance floor.

Hannah and Jessica were really different from each other. Hannah was the party animal kind of girl while Jessica hated being in the crowd. Hannah like loud music while Jessica goes with the mellow ones. Hannah prefers to go out and party while Jessica sticks her nose in her books. They were really different. But somehow, they went through their differences and realized they also have something in common: to find the ones destined for them.

The only thing was that they have different ways in doing so. Hannah’s way is rushed while Jessica preferred to wait. I mean, why do they even call it ‘destiny’ if you force yourself to someone who doesn’t give a damn about you. Though there was a time when curiosity got the best of Jessica that she decided to have her future read but then all she got were some crappy information.

“Light. Bright lights. Honking cars. You’re… soulmate.” The lady in black with a cloth covering her face said.

“My… soulmate?”

“Yes. Soulmate. The one destined to be with you. The one you’re tied up with forever.”

Jessica shook her head at the sudden flashback. Soulmate? Who would believe in those things? Her thoughts were interrupted at the sight of Hannah’s current boyfriend, Mon, approaching her. He sat on the other side of the couch.

“Hey” he greeted.

“Hey” Jessica greeted back. “Hannah has been waiting for you.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah. She’s on the dance floor right now.”

“Oh. Thanks. Aren’t you gonna dance too?”

“Nah” with that, he nodded and made his way to the dance floor to find her girlfriend. Out of all the guys Hannah hung out with, Mon is the only one whom she approves. She can see sincerity in his eyes. How he cared for Hannah and showed her love to her.

Jessica got her phone from her bag and saw 6 missed calls coming from her best friend, Liam. He was her best friend since diapers. Though his one year older than her, she acts more mature than him. Jessica lowly cursed herself before typing in a message to Hannah noting that she’ll be heading home. Right when the message was sent, she grabbed her bag and made her way out of the club. It took her time to adjust to the darkness. When she got herself together, she rushed her way home. She was now bumping into people and only said a low ‘sorry’. Unfortunately, she forgot that today was her Liam’s soccer game and she failed to attend it. It was like a tradition already for her to be attending his games and practices.

She waited for the cars to stop to be able to cross the road but time was already running and she was seriously in a rush. When she can’t wait any longer, she crossed the road. Luckily for her, cars were still far away. Or so she thought.

Her feet were glued to the ground as a bright light shone through her face. It seemed like time stopped and everything went dead quiet except for the beeping of the car. This is it, my last day on earth. Goodbye mom, dad, Liam, Hannah, french-fries, burgers, annoying teachers, mayonnaise, bacons, eggs, pancakes---

She was bidding her farewell to every single thing that gave joy to her life with her eyes shut as she waited for the impact of the car. But she didn’t feel anything but a pair of strong arms encircled around her petite body. Am I dead now? Is my angel going to take me away now? Better be a hot angel or I’ll---

“Are you okay, miss?” a deep voice suddenly ran through her ears, interrupting her thoughts. Well my angel does sure have a HOT voice.

“Miss?” the voice asked again, this time shaking her body awake. Now let’s see what my angel looks like. Better be a hot one. She slowly blinked her eyes open. Her jaw dropped at the wonderful sight in front of her. He was mesmerizing. He was… My angel? Huh?

The guy helped her up from the ground dusting her pants for her. She was too shock to even react. The guy picked her bag up and handed it over to her with a sweet smile planted on his adorable face. Jessica cleared her throat and shook her head, thinking this was all a dream.

“I’m still… alive??” she mumbled, her hand gripping on her aching head.

“Fortunately, you are.” The guy spoke up, making her look up and lock gazes with him.

“Wait, you’re not…. my angel?” she asked expectantly as she took a hold of her bag from the guy’s grasp.

“Angel? Well you could say that.” The guy chuckled. Too much for a hot angel. “John” he introduced, offering a hand to shake. She stared at him, then to his hand, then back to him.

“Jessica” she said, intertwining her hand through his and gave it a slight shook. She could feel the electricity from his touch, which made her let go right away. She stared at her hand for a sec before looking back at him when he suddenly spoke.

“Since I’m you’re angel, and angels worry about their master or somewhat like it, may I ask if you’re okay?” he asked.

“Eh? Angel?”  He nodded.

“You said it yourself.” He chuckled. She waved a hand in front of his face, shaking her head.

“Oh no, no, no… I was—well I thought—you know.” She stammered.

“It’s okay.” A chuckle escaped from his lips at her cuteness. Right then, her phone vibrated and she immediately got it from her bag. She gasped when she saw Liam’s name pop out of the screen. Shoot!

“As much as I love to talk to you, I really have to go.” She said, making her way passed him after a wave.

“Wait, will we meet again?” he asked, expectantly.

“Uhh… Of course, My…. Angel.” She joked before rushing her way back home. A chuckle escaped John’s lips before he made his way to the opposite direction from where she ran.
