Stupid Friends

The ‘best friend’ time she had with Liam last night really went out of hand. I mean who sleep at 2 in the morning. Great! Now she had less time for sleep. Not minutes later or what feels like it for her, she could hear her alarm clock ringing at the nightstand. Seriously! I mean what was it? 2 hours?! 3?! She grumpily stretched out her hand off her blankets, trying to reach for her alarm clock and make it stop. And when she did, she decided to take a short nap.

For what she thought was short became longer than she thought. Liam was now waiting at her living room, impatiently tapping his foot. Just right then, Jessica’s mother passed by as she was about to make her way to the kitchen, she stopped at the sight of Liam in her living room.

“Oh! Liam you’re here! Let me guess… Waiting for jess?”  Mrs. Song said.

“Yeah… for how many minutes now actually.” Liam snorted.

“Why don’t you go in her room and check.” She said. With a nod coming from Liam, she continued her way to the kitchen to make some coffee for herself. At the sight of Mrs. Song gone, he immediately skipped up the stairs, towards Jessica’s room. Without even thinking of knocking, he just made his way in.

There he saw Jessica still positioned on her bed, her eyes closed and lips slightly apart. Liam can’t help but chuckle at the sight. Though to some, it may seem as an unpleasant view but to him, he somehow found it cute. He made his way to her bed before stopping a good distance away.

“Jess, wake up.” He said but not a sound was heard. He repeated again, this time with a shake to wake her up but still no response. Until it was almost like the fifth time he called but still no response, he decided to give up and sigh, seating beside her at the small vacant space in the bed. It took him a good couple of seconds before he was back to waking her up.

“Jess, if you won’t wake up, I’ll kiss you.” he said out of the blue. He never really thought of doing it. He just thought that maybe it would wake her up. But to no avail. “You left me no choice” with a sigh, Liam leaned in closer to her. Closer…. Closer… closer… until…

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Holy Mother of Toothpaste! Liam, what we’re you doing?!” Jessica yelled in surprise at the sight of Liam’s face only an inch away from hers. She immediately sat up and covered herself up with her blankets.

“See, I knew you’d wake up if I do that.” Liam cackled.

“What the?! What?!  So you were really planning on kissing me?!” Jessica burst. Liam cackled even more at her reaction.

“No, of course not. I just thought it might do the trick and wake you up.” He shrugged casually like it wasn’t a big deal.

“Oh” somehow, she relaxed at his response. “Did you wait long?”

“Not really, I was just here like an hour ago.” He said earning a slap in the arm from her. “Wait here.” With that, she bobbed herself in her bathroom and got ready for school. Liam was left in her bed watching scanning channels in her tv. After a couple of minutes, she was already done and ready to go.

“Well that was fast than usual.” Liam commented as they both walked downstairs. Jess just shrugged before walking passed him, towards the kitchen where she saw her mom drinking a cup of coffee. She walked towards her and planted a kiss on her cheeks before settling at the chair beside her. Liam sat across Jess as they waited for the food to be served by the maid. When it was, they immediately munched over it. They had pancakes for breakfast. It was silent until Jess’ mom spoke. “So, how’s school going?”

“Fine,” Jess said nonchalantly as she continued on munching up her pancake. Mrs. Song then turned to face Liam and asked the same thing.

“Uhhmm… Fine as well…” was all he could manage. Right after Mrs. Song finished her coffee, she stood up from her seat and made her way back to her room. “Have a nice day today, kids!” was the last thing they heard from her.

Liam was chewing the last piece of his pancakes when he could still hear his stomach grumbling. He nudged Jess and asked her if she could lend some of hers to him but she only stuck her tongue out as an answer.

“Come on. Have pity on my almighty tummy.” Liam pouted.

“Yuck.” Jess made a face of disgust, “Don’t make that face ever again. You look like a deceased monkey.”

“Hey! Why are you so mean to me today? Yesterday you were all like ‘Liam I’m sorry’” Liam mimicked what she did last night while sniffing like a pig.

“Ughhh!!! Seriously Liam, if you want to act all meanie to me make sure it isn’t at night.” Jess complained as she dozily walked in the school corridors with Liam beside her. “Now, I didn’t get sleep because of you!”

“Hey! Don’t blame me. You were acting like a drama queen last night either!” Liam shot back. Before Jess could say another word, a voice calling her name cut her off. Both Liam and her turned to the direction of the voice and came face to face with a fuming Hannah with her boyfriend behind her.

“Ohh hey Hannah!” Jess sheepishly said.

“Don’t hey Hannah me! Why did you bail last night?! You missed all the fun. The club was having the time of its life!” Hannah burst. Mon rested an arm on his girl’s shoulder to calm her down.

“Club?” Liam looked at you questioning, “Since when did you start clubbing?”

“Uhhh…. Last Night? Heheh..” Jess sheepishly said which made Liam shook his head in disbelief. “Hey! Don’t give me that look. You don’t know what I’ve been through last night! I almost died for toothpaste’s sake because of you!” Jess pouted.

“And you told me not to pout.” Liam made a face.

“Wait. What does a toothpaste have to do with last night?” Hannah stupidly asked which made Mon shook his head at his girlfriend’s stupidity.

“She kept saying that since this morning when I almost kissed her.” Liam stated.

“Kissed?! You Kissed?!” Hannah yelled. Jess can’t help but sigh. Why did I have such stupid friends?

“No we didn’t kiss, Hannah.” She tiredly said. “Can we go now? We might be late for class you know…” With that, the four of them went to their classrooms. Hannah and Jess were on the same class and so were Mon and Liam. Liam patted Jess’ head before walking to his classroom with Mon following him. Hannah and Jess did as well. Their classroom was only beside Liam and Mon’s anyway.

As they settled in their seat, they waited for their teacher to arrive quietly. Hannah was busy playing with her nails while Jess stuck her nose back in her books again. She was already in the part where Romeo and Juliet was about to kiss, when Hannah suddenly spoke, “I heard that we will have a new student today…”
