A A A A

The birds barely started to sing when the home phone rang non-stop. My husband nudged me to answer the call, but I pulled the blanket over my head instead. It must've been the second worst phone call since Mom's passing because Dad knocked on the bedroom door crying about Kaiya. The next thing I knew, I was packing a suitcase for a week stay in L.A. while lecturing my two sons to be on their best behavior. Dad packed herbal tea and medicine, and Sakuma Drops. Before my husband dropped me off at the train station, Dad said, "Bring her back home, Keiko. If you have to, zip her up in a suitcase and drag her home."
