A A A A

Brows knitted as he makes his way to his mother's office, a situation he'd rather not experience, he'd also love not to see that woman's face but a certain problem appeared, a typical problem especially for those who don't like school or in his case, to be officially enroll for school.

“What the heck is this?” He asked as he slams the papers on the table. On one of the papers, it says:

Welcome to Trinity Academy

His mother sighed, “Kaname, this isn't what you think.”
“What I think? Do you think I'm blind? You're ready to ship already.”
“Not about this again, Kaname.”
“I don't want to go to this prison—”

“It's not a prison, I tell you! I didn't tell you about this because I know you'd refuse and will take your enrollment longer to process.”

The knock on the door interrupts them as the secretary enters, it seems to be an important client that no introduction was told. A tall guy, somewhere in his twenties and followed by two boys and girls behind.

“Tsukasa-san, I'm sorry for the sudden intrusion. It seems you were having a serious talk.”
“No, not at all.”

Just at the fucking right time.

The guy gave him a look as if he was a new sample to be experimented, Kaname glared at him in reply. It didn't bother the latter.

“Ara, he's the one isn't he? The hybrid you told me about.”
“Yes. So are my four other kids.”

The two exchanged gestures that made him nauseous, it even tugged heavier when his mother mentioned about his other siblings. His hands that formed into fists paled at the thought that his father is selling them into another institution that abuses hybrid children.

“What the heck are you talking about?”

“Kaname, this is Saiki Fukuo-san a representative of the Trinity Academy. Be polite when talking to him especially after he came this far just to escort you.”

“So what kind of academy is this where we become lab rats or military trained?”

Hybrid students are usually taken by government for military training. This one got to be one of those. However, it seems this guy has a loose screw, he started a laughing fit all of a sudden.

“Kaname! Ah, I'm so sorry Fukuo-san.”

“What an interesting kid, I think you'll do.”

He gestured to shake hands, Kaname was hesitant but his mother was glaring. Not only that, there were eyes looking at him--in an annoyance he held Fukuo's hand. Suddenly he pulled something from his suit and held it towards him and he froze for a second. Without thinking, he had already leaped a few meters away from him.

“This is...”

Clung.

There was a tug on his hand, Kaname kneeled on the floor. It was that infamous bracelet used to stabilized out of control hybrids. He felt his arm going numb as minute goes by.

“Fukuo-san…” Surprisingly even his mother sound worried, that woman that won't even let her child hold her hand.

"That’s a neutralizer…"

“No, no, how rude your term is. It's called limiter, don't worry I'm using the one that is for young adults, this will merely suppress his powers.”

His anger swells up but he began feeling groggy, Kaname struggled to keep his feet standing. If he had only foreseen this coming, none of this would have happened. Tsukasa heaved a sigh, seeing this situation brought back bad memories to her.

“So you didn't just come to my place just to threaten my kid with your toy, are you?”

“We are here for Kaname-kun, who were missing for the past 3 months in the Sylvan along with his 4 siblings that are supposed to be enrolled last August.”

“Who’s coming with who.”

“You, of course with your other siblings.” He flinched at his words.

“Saiki-sama, a call from Zero.” The girl with long wavy green hair interrupted him.

“Ara, that quite unsettling. Fine, I'll come back later. I have another one to fetch you see, a troublesome one too.”

When they were out of the door Kaname tried to destroy the limiter but it doesn't budge. It seems to need a much strength and power. He clicked his tongue, ignores his mother who’s trying to help him.

“Kaname—”

Kaname glared at her, “You betrayed us. I should've seen this coming, you always hated us. You must've felt happiness, huh, after all you can finally get rid—”

The shock of being hit on the cheek wake him from the grogginess, tears flowed on her face.

“I... I just want you to experience a normal life! I—”

Kaname pulled himself together as he resigned himself from the room, ignoring his mother. There's still time, he thought and made his way back to his siblings. It took them more than hours packing, not for clothes or food (he have mysterious way how and he was able to give his siblings food when they settled at Sylvan) it was images.

“Onii-chan, are we going somewhere?” The twin girls unified question.

"Yes. You all ready?" Both nodded at him.

“Nii-san, are we finally going to China?”

“It’s still undecided but if nothing disrupts our midnight departure. It will be surely our next destination.”

He assured the two boys. Sometimes he had mixed feelings about his twin siblings, the fact that he can't leave them tugs heavier on his chest.

“Neh, Nii-san what's that?” The boys asked, one of boys tried to reach it but he reacted hastily.

“Don't touch it. I let my guard down earlier.” Mentally cursing himself as he explains to them.

Their house had been surrounded that is according to his little brother Reika. Reika is an animal hybrid while the other twin, Reino has this power to control metal. As for the twin girls, Rurika and Riruka hasn't awaken her power. At times like this when they have to escape his twins have very good senses.

“Nii-san, they don't smell here…”

“Reika, you're supposed to say ‘there's no one here’.”

“It's same thing, Riruka.”

“Same thing. Same thing.” Reino reprimanded.

Their voices echoed on the underground, a secret train used long ago made by an unknown man and was said to be unusable and was closed 5 years ago. He hesitated using it but thinking how his mother never had the knowledge about this train, much less the pursuers, it's safe to use.

The train came into their view and they hurried inside, comfortably sitting next to the door a safety caution in case they encounter an enemy. Kaname inspects the train, somehow he felt there was something wrong.

“Nii-san… the waters are restless.” Reika said. “I feel like we shouldn't go.”

He fell into silence, closing his eyes he tries to widen his perspective, to see everything is a couple of miles from where he was standing. Then suddenly from this back a presence appeared.

“Ara, going somewhere?”

Kaname's hands are already on his throat. The latter didn't even flinch. He threw something at him, Kaname didn't avoid it. Another bracelet on his neck.

“Oka-chan!”

“No, that's not—”

He looked back and saw his mother, cuddling with them then suddenly they fell on the floor, the image of his mother blurred into a girl the with green hair. He then too, blackened.

A heavy sigh slips on her mouth, Tsukasa watches her kids being taken inside the train. A matra playing like a broken record on her mind that it was for their own good, a less painful fate than what she had. Than what he had. Her knees gave way; she may be too weak after all. Sensing a presence on her back, she looked back and saw Saiki with the annoying grin his face, her palm whitened as she held her fist.

“Was that too much after all?” He held his hand towards her but decided against it.

“Your promise… You must keep your promise.”

He put both of his hands up like he’s admitting defeat, “Of course, the mark you put on my chest would blow up once you sense deception on my words.”

Saiki bowed and his body disintegrates into nothingness. Tsukasa closed her eyes before muttering words, taking a last glimpse of the long forgotten train, along with the memories, she destroyed the place.

AthenaAkira  on says about chapter 1:
It's interesting.
But won't it be hard to read out the names of the twin girls in future chapters?
