Chapter 3

-----

MaiLi pulled her hair into a messy bun as she walked out to her living room.

Everything in her house was white. White walls, white furnitures, white fixtures. All white. There weren't that many colors that The Councils had allowed the citizens to use.

They thought that having them exposed to too many things would influence them badly but what they didn't know was that people would sneak in things that The Councils didn't know existed.

Flowers were one of them. It was prohibited for some reasons. To which no one seemed to know. But all that MaiLi knew was that she loved them.

They were beauties that had their own life. It was amazing to her. She could clearly remember her mother cutting flowers from the garden when she was little and planting them in vases all around the house.

It was too bad they got banned. But that wasn't keeping anyone to store them illegally. The colors red, yellow, and purple were especially prohibited.

If you were caught by the roaming guards around the cities with those colors on then you're gone. No one knows where they sent them but all that they know is that they wouldn't want to be in that position.

MaiLi changed into a comfortable outfit and walked out of the house.

Of course like everyone around her, she always wore a tracking device when she left. It was always automatically turned on when she stepped out of her house.

Even though she hated the thing and wanted to chuck it in the nearby river, If you were caught without it or worse, not having your Id number register in every store or place you step foot in, the guards would be called up right away.

Things around here were weird and horrible. Sometimes to the extent where the citizens would go madly Insane. Some would even surcum to running into the forbbiden forest or worse, suicide.

There were no other ways to die around here. The only option was to jump from the bridge across town. Every sharp object in this city was only used by the cooks.

And the cooks only. That kept most of the death toll down. But it still didn't help the people who didn't want to live in this trapped hell hole.
