The Failure

Howard Dorough was sitting on his seat. He made sure all his arrangements were proper and the necessities met.

 

"Howie, all set?" Kevin Richardson, his co-pilot asked in the final check up before the flight take off from Seoul.

 

"Yeah... " he replied and looked at his other junior co-pilot, Nickolas Carter. "Just make sure that all the passengers have put the safety belt."

 

"Yes sir." he said and soon Howie heard Nick's announcement to the passengers to buckle up.

And soon enough, he heard air host announce all the safety rules and what's to do in case of emergencies, etc.

 

 

Then the host, Alexander James McLean entered the pilot's cabin and asked if they were ready to take off.

 

"Yeah... AJ. In 3 minutes." Howie replied and checked his compass for the Nth time before starting the engine of the large passenger plane.

 

Deep inside he missed his best friend, Brian Littrell...

 

It was his first time, he was flying the plane after that unfortunate accident that took place 3 years ago which took Brian's life.

He still blames himself for that accident. If it wasn't for him drunk with his friend and driving, he wouldn't have...

 

 

He remembered that Brian loved wearing fine white leather glove and a light up micky mouse watch.

He always used to tease his friend, but now, he terribly miss him...

 

A tear escaped from Howie's eye.

 

"Howie... Take a deep breath. Come on we are on air. Concentrate on flying." Kevin who was beside him consoled him... Kevin knew all about Howie's emotion like Nick and AJ.

They used to be a team, BSB.

 

"Yeah..." Howie muttered and concentrated in his work. Soon, they were among the clouds.

 

 

"You may remove your seat belts now." AJ announced in the mike. Then he started giving tips of what to do when you feel pressure on their ears, etc.

 

 

Suddenly Howie felt a cold feeling creeping up.

He saw some dark clouds in front of him. But that's now what worried him... The plane started to jerk up! Like the engine was failing.

 

 

True to his hunch, the plane was certainly failing.
