Miami: A Place to Hide

Riiiiiiiiing!

 

Hand searching for switch button and eventually succeed. Emma gathered the blanket and used it to block the sun that shone brightly into her eyes. She rolled a few times on the oh-so-comfy bed before eventually stood up.

 

Stretching her body, Emma covered a yawn with her hand before going to the bathroom and decided to take a shower. After that she changed into a short shorts and tanks.

 

Taking her phone, she checked the incoming messages. A message from….. Louis? Emma decided to call him.

 

“You’re finally awake, ragazza.”

 

”Louis! I miss you so much!”

 

Louis is also one of the people that Emm’s trust besides Dan. They were close enough but only few people know about it. That’s why sometimes rumors started to spread about their relationship.

 

“I miss you too, ragazza. Anyways, why don’t you check your door first?”

 

“Still can’t get rid of the Italian accent, huh?” Louis laughed on her remark.

 

With the phone still on, Emma walked to the door and opened it to reveal none other than the fine boy man.

 

Louis smiled widely and turned off the phone. Emma squished him into her famous bear-hug.

 

“What are you doing in Miami? And moreover, in front of my hotel room!”

 

Louis laughed at her excitement. “I’m stalking you, Emm.”

 

Emma punched him playfully. “You stalker! But hey, you said to me like two weeks ago you have this work in whatever country in the Asia and will be back to London in a month.”

 

“Ouch, that was hard! I was just exaggerating, mind you. But anyways, I’m here! Happy enough?” Emma nodded and both of them laughed. “Anyways, you owe me a story. Up for breakfast?”

 

Both of them walked to the nearest café and ordered for their breakfast. They chose a place outside near the beach which was quite distant from other people.

 

They were chit-chatting about everything until finally their orders arrived.

 

“So are you ready to talk about it?”

 

Emma sighed. “Did you go to their party? Was it good?”

 

“I have to say that the whole idea must be from Jade, though. It’s kinda boring. Oh and I have to say that Tom didn’t look really happy.”

 

“Hmm?” Emma chewed on her sandwich.

 

“Oh come on, Emm. I know that you had cried because of this.”

 

She didn’t meet Louis eyes and concentrated—trying to—on her food. “What can I do? It’s none of my business anymore. We broke up a long time already, remember?”

 

“You know that he’s going to be tied five months from now, right? And it means that you don’t have anymore chances. It’s now or never.”

 

“Louis Cordice, it’s over.” Emma shook her head and continued eating.

 

Louis gave up and looked at Emma sadly. He didn’t want his best friend to be upset like this. He was the only who knew about their past relationship which was hidden from everyone, and he knew that he was the only one who could help them… Or more likely her.

 

After finishing their breakfast, they talked for awhile again forgetting the previous topic. Emma then insisted to have a picture with Louis and tweeted it.

 

Am I having a breakfast on Slytherin table? Or is it him who is having a breakfast in Gryffindor table?

 

Both of them then decided to take a stroll around the city and beach(es).

“Tom! Look at how adorable these little cupcakes are!” Screeched Jade.

 

His eyebrows were furrowed seeing what Emma tweeted hours ago. Louis and Emma in Miami….. Together?

 

“Tom!”

 

Tom was shocked then looked at Jade who was holding a pink cupcake at her right hand. “Try this.” She tried to feed him but he backed off.

 

“Sweetheart…” That word felt empty now coming out from his mouth. “… I’m full already. Just finish it by yourself then I’ll drive you home, okay? It’s late.”

 

Jade sulked. “Aren’t I going to stay here tonight?”

 

He walked toward Jade and kissed her forehead. “Nope, TV crews are going to come here first thing in the morning to filming. We have had enough rumors already, okay?”

 

Jade nodded. She ate some of the cupcakes and spared some for Tom. After that Tom drove her back to her condo, with Jade not forgetting to kiss him on the lips before they separated.

 

Opening the door of his condo, he tossed his car key successfully into the bowl. Throwing his body to the sofa, he closed his eyes and sighed.

 

“What have I done?” He asked himself.
