Chapter 04

 

Right after class Krystal went looking for Kevin. She had forgotten his classroom. She walked around the cafeteria hoping to find him. She didn’t want to ask Alice, since she didn’t seem to like Krystal much. It took her a few minutes before finding Kevin with his groups of friends. She starred at them for a few moments. He was her only friend and she felt vey clingy when she saw him with his friends. Then she saw Alice walking to them from afar. She felt extremely nervous. She decided to walk off and find a quiet area to sit alone on the oval. It was the best.

“Oh hey! Krystal!”

“Hi.” It was the senior girl who had approached her yesterday.

“So you are the one. Olivia was talking about you yesterday!”

“Ehehe, yea.”

“Well I’m Jennifer!”

“And I’m Amy!” It kinda shocked Krystal for a minute, since her ex-best friends were named Olivia and Amy. It seemed that she was going back in time where they all first met.

“Introduce yourself Krystal!”

“Oh er yes! Okay. I’m Krystal Lee and I’m in year nine-”

“Wait, do you have any friends besides us?” A sudden question was shot from Amy.

“Not exactly.”

“Oh, okay.”

 

After school, Krystal did not bother to go search for Kevin as she felt a bit more comfortable around other people. She walked home with a tune in her mouth. She was able to reach home quicker, but realised that there was nothing at home to do. She was pretty bored. She had a thirty-second shower, did all the homework and just plopped herself onto bed. After a ten minute lay on the bed, she got back up and cleaned the whole house. 

Her parents both were out of the house, as they were still trying to fix their debt. Krystal thought if she should get a job too. She was the only child and she was old enough to find a job. So, on the very next day, a Saturday she was determined to find a job interview.

 

Walking door to door on the streets of the shops, she asked for a job, even if they were hiring or not. She had too many rejections for her age. She disliked that, she called herself very mature as she did not have a dot of bad on her records ever since they moved. Then finally, she found a shop with a kind women inside. She nervously asked the cashier, but sadly rejected. With all her might, Krystal tried not to give up and popped up at a bakery at the end of all the shops. It was pretty busy, but she still asked. An old women was at the front of all queues. Krystal kindly asked for a job. The women gave an eyebrow and Krystal looking very nervous wished it was a good brow. The women happily accepted her and granted an interview a week from then.

 

Krystal got home and started cleaning, she had nothing to do. If only there was a library. She went back outside in search for a library. She had not wanted to ever look at a book this badly. She wanted to find tips on passing the interview and to keep her company too. She wasn’t able to find one before getting hungry, but still kept looking for a sign of a library. 

Fortunately she was able to find one past her suburb though. But even though it was far, she had nothing better to do. With her stomach growling she quickly went to buy a library card. She had two dollars in her pocket, it wasn’t enough. What was worse was that you needed a license too.

 

She walked back without touching a single book, if she really wanted a book, she’d have to borrow it, but she couldn’t. She went back home all hungry. She had to create a timetable to go to the library often. It took over half an hour to walk there and longer back. She could ask someone to buy a card for her, but that seem impossible. She just decided to go to the library everyday for around one week before her interview. 

 

On Sunday, Krystal followed her timetable and started off walking to the library in the early morning. Her parents were already out working. She straight away looked for books and took a while for her to find one. She wasn’t really a fan of reading, but with nothing to do, she couldn’t help but love them. She sat on a red seat and started reading in silence. 

 

She read for an hour before almost finishing. She was thirsty and found a tap outside, but she couldn’t bring her book with her. She placed her book right back where she found it and walked outside.

 

She took a sip and quickly walked back in. She stayed at the library for around two hours before realizing it was raining. Krystal went to check the time and saw that it was half past four. Thirty minutes before the library gonna close. Krystal quickly searched her wallet if she had a cent, but sadly only flies came out. After thinking for a minute or so she had an idea, to walk in the rain. No, that couldn’t happen, but it might if she had an umbrella. Then from the corner of her eye, she spotted an umbrella in the office of the library. Krystal went up to the front desk and innocently asked if she could borrow an umbrella. She practically begged for it. Luckily, the lady at the desk was able to lend her umbrella that was in her car. Krystal thanked her with light in her eyes. She promised to return it at her next visit to the library.S

 

Skipping in the lovely, cold rain, all Krystal could think of was luck. She realised she had received so much luck today.

 

A/N: Recapping, Kevin thinks Krystal's name is Olivia, just in case any of you are confused (not that anyone has mentioned this to me.)

Also I have finished the next chapter already and should be realeased in a week. I don't want to realease it with this chapter because it seems too rushed. I'll make a poster for this chap soon and yea, not that busy anymore. Aced most of my tests.
