1. How prepared are we as a country for the challenges of 21st century learning?

As a country I believe that we are prepared in a way for 21st century learning. If we put aside financial aspects of it, the Filipinos are a very tech-savvy nation. Most children these days know how to use computers and ipads. Even old people are catching up and try to be "in". If only we are armed with the proper and sufficient number of equipment then it would be easier for us as a country to compete with our neighbors.

2. Do you think the goverment is doing enough to push eLearning into the Filipino classroom? Why?

Not really. We can't even have enough books, what more for eLearning? Sad to say, no matter how convenient it all seems in theory, eLearning costs a lot. And from the outset, we seemingly can't afford it as of now. But I believe that we do have funds but it goes to all the wrong places(i.e.: the pockets of undeserving people). If only these funds were channeled into education then elearning might stand a chance in the Filipino classroom. Until then, we will have to wait to see  our classrooms having enough chairs and books.

3. If you would be given the chance to conceptualize an eLearning project, what would that project? Expound.

If I were to conceptualize an eLearning project in the Philippines, it would be a project that concerns basic literacy. In my very little experience in teaching younger children, I see that there are a lot of children who are lagging behind their peers when it comes to reading, writing and counting. It is very sad to see that there are children who move on to the next grades without actually learning what they need to learn. It becomes a domino effect wherein if you don't make a solution early on, it would make a big negative impact on the child's learning.

I propose to make eLearning centers wherein there would be games and activities focusing on the basic literacy skills. There would be new games that would help the children learn how to read, write and count. As it would be based in games, they would be advancing on stages depending on their skills. Children are more interested and learn easily when it is made into a game so I believe that this kind of project would be effective.
