1. It seems that the 21st century learning environment is being saturated with multi-media content, what do you think is the implication of this into the teaching and learning process?

Like any other trend there are pros and cons to the boom of multi-media content in the learning environment. The positive side to this is that it caters to different learning styles. Not all students learn with just text, just visuals or just audio. By incorporating more forms of media together, we engage more learners and help them remember the content better through sending the message in different levels. The brain works by way of association. The more things we associate a piece of information with, the more we are likely to retain it. And so, by incorporating text, image, sound and the other senses, there is a higher chance of retaining the information that we want the learner to take with them. However, sometimes there are students who can easily get distracted or lost in the midst of too many things at the same time. There is also a chance that the learner might get used to this approach and impede his or her interest and learning when only one medium is used.

2. Do you plan to go with this bandwagon? Why or Why not?

I do plan on incorporating multi-media content in teaching in the future. I believe that the positive outweights the slim chance of megative effects in using this approach. Also, in my short experience in teaching, it is generally easier to capture the attention of the students when more than one of their senses is addresed.

3. In you major, what do you think is the most appropriate digital media content? Expound.

Since I am a TEG major, I think the most appropriate digital media content when i teach would be children's music videos that teach subject content area. For example, there is this video on youtube wherein the planets in the solar system are rapping about their characteristics. Aside from being a cartoon that generally captivates the target audience which is very young children, the rapping and singing also appeals to their auditory senses and their liking for music especially the hiphop trend. Everything is almost easier to memorize when they are laid into songs that are catchy and rhyming.
