Day 5 - angst love sliceoflife school tragedy - chapter image

A A A A

Once class ended for that week, Alana Cooper packed all her belongings. She carelessly shoving her stationaries in to her backpack. Hannah who had seen her odd behaviour stopped. She quietly observed the latter. Alana didn't noticed her as she quickly stepped out from the class when she's done.

Then, Hannah saw Willy trotted behind Alana like a lost chick looking for it's mother. Hannah didn't know why but she strangely thought that there's something wrong. Not that she minded, but Willy wasn't the kind of person who would always in a hurried, unless Alana.

She's an exception. The real is, her time was limited. She got work waited for her after school, homeworks, studies and all the school matter. Mostly, Alana tried to make a living for herself and her grandma. She got no one to rely on. Sure she got many friends, but they can't be even more than a support.

Hannah was just about to follow on for more information but then Cara interrupted her, "Hey Hannah. Are you free later on?"

Hannah immediately forgot about the curiousity earlier. She turned to Cara, "Yeah, sure. Hang out?"

Cara cheekily grinned, "Of course babeyh." She said in a giddy voice. Hannah cringed inwardly. Seriously, Cara is that one person that makes you felt that she's over the limit sometimes.

Alana kept on walking heading to that place that's on her mind. The place that she thought almost like hell. The place where she had to be remembered of all the stupid flashback. She didn't like it. She's rather than jumped off of the cliff then. When her feet were finally in front of the familiar door, she waited for sometime. Then, she started to think, how is she going to get in there if she didn't know the passcode to unlock the door.

She rolled her eyes annoyingly. If Willy had asked her to come over after school, then why the hell that he haven't arrived yet. Without thinking, she leaned her back against the door. Her right arm unintentionally pressed on the door knob. Then she heard something. Something with the sound of 'click'

She didn't think twice as she glanced at the slightly opened door. Alana stepped inside the house.

All of a sudden the aroma of vanilla breeze pierced her nose. It was too strong that she can't helped but to run to the bathroom. And she throw up severely. All of the food that she had eat that morning immediately came out from her stomach again.

She closed the toilet bowl lid and sat on it. She wiped her mouth with a tissue that she took from a roll toilet paper at the wall. She didn't like the feeling of throwing up. It's hurting. Besides, you still can taste how bad the taste of the puke.

Alana sighed heavily. Her hands automatically touched her stomach. That's when it hit her. She's late for her period and she have been eating more than usual. She jumped to her feet and ran in search for a calendar. She remembered a few times before when she saw a calendar on Willy's desk.

She grabbed the calendar, and searched for that date. That date of the month. She's late. A week late and it's about to enter another month now. She's doomed. Her gripped on the calendar became loose, and she's already on the floor. She could broke down there. But she was more than speechless.

Alana choked on her saliva as she closed her eyes tightly. A tear dropped from the edge of her eyes. Now, her future was finally and totally ruined. She cried out her numbed feelings silently. No one, could feel her wrecked feelings.

Willy thought of about going to a grocery nearby to buy some stuffs before going home. Furthermore, he had run out of yogurts at home. After done with his small grocery shopping, he sped up his car to his house. He had told Alana to come over since he got something to tell. To discuss to be accurate.

Once he arrived, he twisted the knob open. Oddly, the house seemed very quiet that even the wind was louder than anything. His eyes roamed around the house to find that Alana's backpack was on one of the couch. He sighed in  a relieved.

Willy entered the kitchen, to put the grocery he had bought earlier. "Alana," he called after her.

Nothing. Not even a whisper answer him. "Alana, I'm here." He tried again, but his voice only echoed back to himself. His heart pace increased by every second. He's afraid of all impossiblities that she might do. Because no one could ever predicted her. She's an exception.

Willy opened each door to those rooms. Still, no one was there. He looked at the bathroom, hesitatedly. The wind creaked the door to the bathroom opened. There she was, cutting her hair. Willy didn't interrupted her. He watched how carefull she took a fist of her hair as she cutted it off.

His heartbeat slowly retrieved back to it's normal heart beat.

Alana was really in her deepest thought. Everything won't do by then. She's afraid. So many things that she can't say yet she can't expressed herself. Quietly, Alana cutted another side of her hair.

Why am I out of all the people? Did I do wrong? God, answer me please. She silently asked the almighty God. Of course, to her dismay she won't get the answer to her question.

Her depression went worst. She screamed at the top of her lungs and tried to stab her own body. Willy grew alarmed and ran to her. "Alana! Alana!" He caught her arms.

Alana's cried of depression and frustration only grew louder. "Why?!?!"

Her eyes were so dark as if she got possessed by the devil. Willy tried to pry the sharp scissor from her grasped but she's stronger than he ever know.

"Alana, please!" He pushed her hand that was gripping the scissor. Alana shook her head violently while her hands still in his grasped. She screamed a high-pitched voice. "Alana, stop! Please stop- Ouch!" Willy yelped loudly.

Eventualy Alana abruptly stopped. She slowly opened her eyes as she saw dark red blood trickled from his jaw. She immediately dropped the scissor as she gaped in horror. That was so close. She could have kill someone. What's worse was if he dies, she would become more miserable.

In fear, she backed away a few steps. "Y-You're bleeding." She gulped. Willy self-consciously touched the bleeding part of his jaw. He winced slightly.

Alana was all quiet. Willy bend down and took the scissor earlier. "Come on, you must have been hungry. Let's eat," He good-naturely said like nothing happen as he held out his hand.

Hesitatedly, Alana's eyes shifted to his hand. Only after few seconds later, then she took his hand. She's afraid by then. If it was other guy, Alana could have been slapped nor even throw to the floor. But it's Willy. He's the reason she's like that. Therefore, he didn't even care if she hurted him. He knows that deep inside, she didn't intend to hurt him. It just happened to be.

Willy led her to the kitchen as he prepared the foods for her. He would walked back and forth, from the fridge to the kitchen counter with a plate in his hands. He settled down the plate.

Like a butler, he even served her the spoon and forks. Willy didn't prepare much. The least he did was the porridge he'd bought when he was on his way to home. He had bought a cup porridge.

"Here, take this." he took the spoon and put it in her palm. Alana didn't even budge. She just stared at the porridge blankly. She didn't feel the urge to eat even though she had grew thinner every each day.

Willy sat next to her, "Go, eat." Alana was one stubborn headed girl. She hardly listened to what people told her. She putted the spoon down. Worriedly, Willy looked at her. "Alana, you should eat. You had gotten thinner. Moreover, the baby needs his food."

At that mentioned, Alana threw him a shapred glared. "You're the reason why I am like this!" She barked at him. Yet, Willy didn't winced. He smiled half-heartedly, "I know. It's all my fault. Now, eat. You need the food."

A moment passed by. At last, she had no choice but to eat. Her stomach was threatened her to taste the food. It mysteriously smelled intriguing. Alana took the spoon as she dipped it in her food.

Willy quietly observed her as she eats. She looked like a lost child. Like an innocent lost child. So insecure that she made him wanted to protect her. It wasn't because she's carrying his baby, it's her nature behaviour that attracted him. He himself started eating too.

Silence filled around them. Alana ate as if she had never eat before. Like a hungry cannibal. Even with just the porridge, it strangely tasted good.

"I had arranged the date. We will getting married on this Sunday, at a church in the West." He announced. Alana stopped eating. Her eyes drifted to him.

Married? She contemplated like it's the first time she had heard the word. This is wasn't how she had dreamt to get propose. She had imagined a better ones. This is far from what she had picture.

"Are you crazy?" she asked almost inaudible. Willy didn't even look at her. "Yes. I am."

"No." she cutted him off as she stomped the spoon earlier on the blue marble table. Only this time, Willy stopped his doing. He sighed. "Alana. We have to. I don't want the baby to have un-married parents-"

"Who told you that I'm keeping this." Stern was in her voice as she emphasized this.

His eyebrows met together at the center, "Are you saying that you're killing him? NO. You can't. I've told you, I'll take care of you. That's mean everything, including the baby. You get me?"

This is the first time ever she had heard him talking so much. He barely talked. If one question being asked, then he would replied one too.

"You're insane." She shook her head.

Willy shrugged. "Whatever. It's been agreed. We'll getting married this Sunday."

Alana gritted her teeth. Then, a flash of her grandma flashed on her mind. "Grandma..."

Willy halted as he slowly looked up. "I'll... explain it to her."

"No, you can't!" She jumped on her feet. He only shook. "I can and I will, Alana. How should we hide it? She'll eventually knows and it's your grandma, Alana. The only family member you have." He's true though. Her grandma is the only family she had left.

She can't lie to her. No matter what was going to happen, she can't hid it behind her. Her grandma was the only person she trusted.

* * * * *

When Willy sends her home that evening, they had mustered up to go and tell her grandma about all of the things that had been happening. Although Willy had literally imagined how he will get punished, he still intended to do it. Once everything was unleashed, as expected, Alana's grandma fell to the floor.

"Grandma... grandma, please. I'm sorry." Alana begged with tears. Her grandma shook as she finally cried too. "Oh, my dearest Alana... What wrong have you did? Why was God punishing you like this??" the old lady cried in sad. She's sad than ever. Sad that her beloved grandchild is wrecked. She's ruined.

Why did God had to punish her like this? What sin that she had made to deserved this kind of punishment? Alana is a good granddaughter. She's innocent and have the purest heart out of all why her.

The two cried in tears as Willy took all his blame. Even the night also felt so glum and longer than it's usually does.
