A/N: This was originally written as part of a contest entry on AFF, to unbury, but I really like this particular part of it, so it gets posted here :)

Her heart was damaged, crucified until it was nothing but an organ that kept her alive and not the vault of emotions and feelings it was supposed to be. Her soul was torn apart, ripped to shreds by demons disguised as humans who never knew any better. Her mind was plagued by words, irrevisible of the image that she perceived herself to be. She was nothing like the girl that she used to be. She was now a broken shell.

The girl that she used to be was now dead, bruised and battered until life no longer existed inside of her and the light at the end of the tunnel had dimmed into complete darkness. She was only human. She could only endure so much until it became all too much.

Her bones were weary. Her mind was tired. Her heart was fatigued. She wanted it all to stop. She wanted it all to end. She really wanted to quit and give up, but the demons never gave her a chance. So she was going to give herself a chance, an opportunity to break free.

So she ran (and jumped).

In those precious moments before gravity pulled her back to reality, she was flying. She was soaring above the skies, rejoicing her new-found freedom. She was finally able to fly free and abandon the metal shackles that the demons kept her in, torturing her relentlessly day and night.  She could finally fly free.

(But gravity pulled her back to reality, far too soon).
