Troubles

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cindy stared at herself in the bathroom mirror. She had decided that she was going to the party and that no one would stand in her way. And no one did. No one stopped her. No one was stopping her now either. 

But there was one liiiittle tiny thing that was stopping her: clothing. She didn't know what to wear. In fact, she didn't have a single clue. She didn't recall owning any fancy dresses or anything of the sort and she didn't have any friends living close enough that she could borrow a dress from at the last minute. Actually, she had never gone to a party if it wasn't an engagement party, or some party for a Chinese holiday. 

Cindy sighed and pursed her lips. Maybe her mom would have a dress. She honestly doubted it though. Sure, her mother had aged prettily and looked young, sometimes even acted like a teenager, but she doubted that her mom would have any dresses appropriate for the occasion. Well...asking couldn't hurt.

Cindy padded downstairs to wear her mother was sitting on the couch in the living room, watching The National Geographic Channel. "Mom?" Cindy squeaked.

"Mhm?" Her mom replied as she watched a salt water crocodile rip the leg off a poor innocent deer. Cindy cringed.

"Do you...happen to have a dress?" Cindy's voice faded little by little when she asked the question. 

"For what?"

"Um...there's a dance-party-thing for Halloween at school..." Cindy trailed off.

Her mom jumped up. "Yeah! I have one! I remember when I was your age going to parties!" She gushed. She patted Cindy's head, "Just kidding. Let's get you that dress."

Cindy was dragged up into her parents' bedroom and into a walk-in closet she didn't even know existed. Her mom pulled out a dress. "Here. I bought it a couple weeks ago. It was originally for HomeComing, but you need a dress now, so I'll get you a different one for HomeComing."

Cindy's eyebrow went up and slowly she reached her hand out to take the dress. "O...kay? ...Thanks, Mom."

Her mom nodded, "No problem. I need to go see what happened to that deer!" Her mom dashed downstairs and Cindy shook her head, "It's already dead!" She called out after her mother. She chuckled and watched her own mother run like an excited child to an ice cream truck.

Cindy held up the dress and examined it. It was truly beautiful. The colors matched nicely. Now the problem was, would she be able to pull it off?

Going to her room she changed into the dress and looked at herself in the mirror. She pulled the dress up; it was a little low. Cindy furrowed her eyebrows, looking at her hair. She pulled it up in a loose but neat low bun. Her naturally wavy hair made it look quite elegant. 

Cindy smiled at herself. What about makeup? She went to the master bedroom and looked through her mom's collection of makeup. She found a light blue and silver pallette of eyeshadow and black liquid eyeliner. 

Lightly, she drew a thin line of eyeliner on her top eyelid and brushed on a base of blue eyeshadow, ending with some silver by her eyebrows. She applied some mascara and curled her eyelashes, then waved her hair.

She leaned back and examined herself.

Perfect.

She was ready.

But it's Christmas break so I managed to get an update in. Thanks for all the support and I hope to see comments!

And dang, I gotta get my keyboard fixed. My "o" key fell off and I taped it back on with tape, but it's still not sturdy. (yeh, I'm ghetto like that xD). So, if you see any typos involving the letter "o", please forgive me. Thanks!
