The short humorous poem Mrs. Mitchell's Underwear is written by Dennis Lee. I was not able to trace as to when and where this poem was first published but it was shared in different educational blogs. It tells about the underwear of a certain Mrs. Mitchell who doesn't like to dance. To the narrator's amusement, the underwear of Mrs. Mitchell was dancing. I believe that the author's main goal was to make the reader laugh or snicker because of the silliness of the poem. The poem is short and has simple words. I believe that younger children will be able to appreciate it because of its rhyming scheme. Older children likewise and even adults on the otherhand, would appreciate its humor.
