Chapter 2 [Prologue]

 

 

 

Ryan led Alexa outside, to the back of the masion, and as far away as he could get from it. All was quiet and tree branches obscured the bright, clear moon from view, whispering to one another. 

"What?" Alexa was the first to break the silence. 

Ryan gave her his best "duh" look. "I had to bring you away or else Lee would have gotten the chance to read your lips, or hear us."

Oh, right. Alexa though. Lee was the most skilled vampire she had made, and being the most feared female vampire existing, she of course had to have a skilled and talented coven in order to keep her title. The coven consisted of Lee, Rowan, Parker, Ryan, and Alexa herself.  Ryan and Alexa were the head of the coven while Lee was second in command. 

"So what's this ingenious plan of yours that's going to somehow make me human again?" Alexa asked, not bothering to beat around the bush. 

"The Trade." Ryan said, looking up at the moon. He glanced sideways and saw Alexa's confused expression. "Vampires don't have souls. But somehow - I don't know how, don't ask me. I was never good with chemistry and all that nonsense - you can get your human sould back with the right intentions. I just need to be willing enough to sacrifice myself for your happiness and you need to be willing to have me sacrificed. Of course, it's going to be easy on your side because vampires are naturally selfish. So, the problem lies with me. Vampires have the urge to kill people that have happiness."

"Well are you? I mean, willing to sacrifice yourself for me." Alexa asked. "I'm not risking my life for nothing." She warned. 

Ryan chuckled, "Just minutes ago you said you would try even if you could die. What's up with that?"

Alexa narrowed her eyes and playfully shoved Ryan, "Just get on with it."

Ryan's expression became serious again. "Well, to answer your question, yes. And you know about Hibernating right? It makes us fresh and new again. In a sense, we're being recylced."

Alexa nodded.

"It's normal for vampires to Hibernate, so I'm going to tell the coven that you're Hibernating while you're converting. Hibernating will take a year, and it's done in a coffin, underground. But, The Trade only takes two months. I'll dig you up, and you'll be human."

Alexa nodded, absorbing everything. "What's the catch? There's a catch to everything we do."

Ryan continued explaining again, "The Trade includes becoming human again, but once you become human, you have a mission to fullfill. For some, you need to protect someone you love, or for others, they need to give their parents a proper burial and a funeral and all that even though they may have died centuries ago."

Alexa tapped her champagne glass and took a sip of blood. "Well how do I know what my mission is?" she asked. 

"You make your own mission."

This site is very different from AFF. It's much quieter...

Well, I guess these two chapters are just kind of like a prologue.

Everything should start in the next one or two chapters.
