Chapter 4

I woke up and realized I was alone. Ryan was no longer with me. Not wanting to accept the fact, I got up on my feet and searched the apartment. It was silent. I couldn't hear anything except for my breathing. 

It wasn't long until I found a pile of glittering white dust sitting on the floor in a neat pile. No, I thought. Ryan couldn't be gone. He wouldn't leave me alone like this. I looked around frantically. This had to be a joke. Ryan couln't be gone. 

Although I knew that he had already left this world, I slumped on the floor and waited. Five minutes passed and I found the energy to get up and find a vial. I swept Ryan's remains into the vial and tied a string to it, hanging it around my neck. It was the last thing of Ryan's. I couldn't let it get lost. Sure, I had pictures and everything, but that wasn't the same.

I trudged to the couch in the living room where I woke up and found a white envelope on the coffee table. On it was my name in neat, black, cursive handwriting. With my vampire eyesight, I could see the way the ink was overlapped to form letters.

The letters Ryan wrote. Instantly, another wave of sadness washed over me. 

I ripped open the envelope and unfolded the papers. There was information on the high school that I would be attending and information on the coven. In a couple of months, my coven would look for me and when they realized I was gone, they would come hunt me down. Pretty simple. So basically I just had to keep a low profile, right?

The high school Ryan enrolled me in was for rich kids. Last time I checked, they were snobby. I was only hibernating for two months, so they should still be snobby. Things only change over decades and centuries. Since the school was for rich kids, of course there was campus.

There were restaurants, boutiques, shops, and a library. There was also a tower and of course all the buildings were listed.

For now, I would just take a tour around campus to get my head around the fact that Ryan was dead.
